First Day of School
August 10, 2026 (Monday)

Our first day of school is up and running at J.T. Canales Elementary. Our Canales Bulldogs woke up bright and early and were welcomed by our amazing Administration, teachers and staff. We wish everyone a successful 2026-2027 School Year and look forward to continued academic growth and success. Our students are ready to learn the rules, procedures and expectations for this school year 2026-2027 and we applaud our Canales parents who ensured a sweet return back to school by ensuring a good night's rest, backpacks set and ready, and an excellent start to their school day. 🏫

Campus Staff Development Day 2
August 5, 2026 (Wednesday)

Today our Campus Staff Development day centered on learning about new Bilingual Updates, Dyslexia Awareness, Campus Procedures and Protocols,and Data Analysis (STAAR and Telpas). We had different presenters that provided their expertise in these areas as well as our Administrative Team providing feedback as to the importance of each. Our staff is enthusiastic about what this new school year 2026-2027 will bring and look forward to servicing our students.

Campus Staff Development: Day 1
Monday (August 3, 2026)

Today our Canales staff received a warm welcome by our Administrative Team, Dr. Vasquez (Principal) and Mrs. Morales-Sanchez (Assistant Principal). They provided us with the most up to date T-TESS and STAAR testing data along with safety guidelines and procedures to follow. We had a special visit from our Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Schools, Mrs. R. Longoria and Executive Director Curriculum Elementary, Mrs. Emerson. We ended the day by forming discussion groups as it relates to the preplanning process of curriculum and instructional supports to enhance student outcomes.
