Every August, I find myself asking the same question:
Whose life will music touch this year?

For more than ten years, I have had the privilege of welcoming children, adults, and families into my studio. Some come to fulfill a lifelong dream. Some arrive with curiosity, while others come with uncertainty. Each one brings a unique story.

People often think that a teacher changes a student’s life. Sometimes that’s true.
But what they don’t always see is that every student changes the teacher’s life as well.
As I become part of their musical journey, they become part of mine.

Their dreams, their courage, their victories, and even their challenges leave a lasting mark on my heart. My life becomes richer because of the people I have the privilege to teach.

Teaching has never been just about music.
It has always been about the transformation that music makes possible.
Because music changes people long before it changes their playing.

A new semester is more than the beginning of new lessons. It is the beginning of new friendships, new stories, and new possibilities.

This summer, Musina Music Plus Academy had the pleasure of welcoming Jose Perez, a 20-year-old college student, for an intensive month of piano study during his summer break.

In just one month, we refined piano technique while exploring the expressive music of Sergei Rachmaninoff and Frédéric Chopin.

Jose’s curiosity, dedication, and enthusiasm made every lesson rewarding.

✨ Performer Spotlight ✨
Brianna Montalvo, age 20

Brianna has achieved truly remarkable success in learning the Russian language. 🪆🇷🇺

Her intonation and the absence of a foreign accent genuinely amaze me.
It is a joy for me to witness such talent, sensitivity, and dedication in her work. ✨

At our Spring Recital, Brianna performed the famous poem “I’m Glad That You Are Not in Love with Me” by Marina Tsvetaeva.
This is a great work known to every Russian person, because these verses later became a beloved song in the famous film “The Irony of Fate, or Enjoy Your Bath!” ❤️

I am very proud of Brianna and her beautiful gift for language, and I sincerely wish her even greater success in discovering the richness and beauty of Russian culture.🤝🫶🏻🤗

Ivan Kuznetsov, age 16
Ivan has been studying the Russian language with me for three years.🪆🇷🇺
It is truly touching to see how, through this journey, a cultural connection continues to live between Ivan and his grandfather, who was born in Russia. This makes his work especially meaningful and beautiful. ✨
Over these years, Ivan has achieved truly remarkable results, and I am very proud of him.

At our Spring Recital, Ivan performed:
* The famous poem “The Only Victory We Need” by Bulat Okudzhava from the iconic Soviet film “Belorussky Station”.
I sincerely hope that Russian will become a language in which he will be able to communicate freely and warmly with his grandfather — and with many other Russian-speaking people in the future. 🫶🏻🤝🙏
Watching this connection grow through language is something very special. 🇷🇺🤗✨
