Two Brownsville ISD ECHS migrant students were accepted to Michigan State University during an MSU Virtual On-Site Acceptance Meeting today, February 18th. Heading to MSU is Yanick Perez from Rivera Early College High School. Yanik is the fourth BISD migrant student from his family to attend MSU. Also headed to MSU is Valentina Villarreal from Porter Early College High School. The Migrant Education Program congratulates both students and their families. Go Spartans!

The Migrant Education Program wants to thank everyone at DentaQuest for their generous gift to the Migrant Education Program. We are thrilled to have their support under such troubled and difficult times. Through your donations, we are able to help our Migrant Students. Our kids deserve all the help we can give them. Queríamos compartir con usted información oportuna sobre una próxima oportunidad que se trata de las becas específicas para ayudar a los estudiantes migratorios, así como información general sobre el regreso a la escuela.

Información de becas
La Equivalencia nacional de la escuela secundaria (HEP) y el Programa de asistencia para migrantes en el colegio (CAMP) otorgan una beca a los estudiantes que cumplen con los criterios de elegibilidad. Greetings migratory parents and families,

We wanted to share with you some timely information regarding an upcoming scholarship opportunity specific to assisting migratory students, as well as some general back-to-school information.

Scholarship Information
The National High School Equivalency (HEP) and the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) is awarding a scholarship to students who meet the eligibility criteria. The deadline to apply for this scholarship is August 15, 2021. For more information visit, https://hepcampassociation.org/scholarship/. For additional scholarship information available for migratory students, please visit the Recognition and Scholarship Opportunities for Migratory Students page of the TMEP portal.

Back-to-School Programs and Services
Be sure to contact your MEP Staff and ask about programs and services within your school and community that offer back-to-school resources. Such opportunities may include:
• School supply and/or backpack distributions;
• Clothing distributions;
• Meet-the-Teacher events; and
• Community outreach events at the campus, district, community, or regional level.

If you need assistance completing the scholarship application or have any questions about back-to-school, please contact your district Migrant Education Program staff, or your migrant recruiter.
