Vela Band students consistently rise to the occasion in demonstrating their musical talents and leadership skills. And this year was no different. This year we honored 33 band members that earned a chair in the MS All-Region band and five that earned the coveted 1st chair. We also honored our 4 awesome drum majors, uniform crew and service award recipients. Thank you eighth grade band members. You will be missed!! The Tradition of Excellence Continues…

Our amazing symphonic band under the direction of Mr. Sarmiento, upheld its tradition of excellence this year! Thirty-three members were inducted into the MS All-Region Band and 5 of those members earned the coveted 1st chair on their instrument. Symphonic Band received 1st division ratings at the Port Isabel Pre UIL evaluation and a sweepstakes award at the MS UIL Concert & Sight-reading evaluation. They also earned a 1st division rating, Best In Class and Overall top MS band at the Director’s Choice Music Featival in San Antonio! Way to go Symphonic Band!!
