Just a few of the amazing 6th grade surrealist landscapes. Students practiced how to draw in one point perspective to create depth in their landscapes. After creating their landscape using watercolor, students added some fun surrealist touches!

Both 7th and 8th grade created portraits using oil pastels of someone they admire. Inspired by the photorealistic artist, Chuck Close, students practiced his drawing method of the grid technique. These amazing portraits were made using oil pastels which is always a challenging material but these students really embraced the material and it’s natural imperfections.

Welcome everyone to the Brownsburg East Middle School Art page! My name is Miss. B and this will be my first year at Brownsburg! Throughout the school year, this page as well as my school instagram ( ) will be used as a window into the art studio. Think of it as the IMA, except with the amazing work of our BEMS students. My goal as an art educator is to use the visual arts to teach students how to creative problem solve as this is an important skill that they will need, even if they don't want to be the next Van Gogh when they grow up. I value building relationships with my students so the art studio is a safe space for them to experiment and express their creative side! I am so excited for this school year and can't wait to help my students discover their inner artist. Go Bulldogs!!!
