Since 1975, BCC has served as a place of innovation and opportunity in an area defined by extreme remoteness, health disparity, and poverty. BCC aims to provide opportunities to escape the path of poverty by ensuring access to quality education and training programs that prepare students for achievement in higher education, meaningful employment, basic skills instruction, and lifelong learning. Wr

apped into BCC's identity is the purposeful integration of Blackfeet culture and language, including student/community engagement in critical issues impacting Blackfeet Nation.

BFCC Advances Renewable Energy, Workforce Training & Net-Zero Goals

We at BFCC continue to invest in renewable energy, workforce development, and a more sustainable future for our campus and community.

Through a new 2026 Tribal Solar Accelerator Fund (TSAF)-funded project, BFCC is adding a 20.54 kW agrivoltaic system and a 2.37 kW water pumping station to campus. The project builds on BFCC’s ongoing renewable energy efforts and partnership with Tribal Energy Alternatives.

Our work in clean energy also continues to create opportunities for students and community members. Since 2022, 41 students and community members have completed IBT Installation Basics training, gaining hands-on skills and certifications in OSHA 10 Workplace Safety, First Aid & CPR, and IBT 200.

BFCC has already installed 53.2 kW of rooftop solar across four campus facilities, with an additional 148 kW DC rooftop solar PV system planned for 2027. These investments support BFCC’s long-term goal of becoming a net-zero campus while preparing students to participate in the growing clean-energy workforce. ☀️

As Melissa Weatherwax, BFCC Director of Institutional Development, shared:
“Solar has advanced the college toward becoming a living lab through student-led projects and community and tribal partnerships.”

BFCC Forgives More Than $1.1 Million in Student Debt 🎓

With excitement, we announce that the BFCC Board of Trustees approved the forgiveness of $1,167,108.90 in eligible student debt on August 19, 2026.

Made possible through the unrestricted gift received from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott, this investment provides meaningful financial relief to students and helps address financial barriers that may have prevented students from registering or continuing their education.

“This action reflects our commitment to putting students first,” said BFCC President Brad Hall. “Tribal colleges rarely have unrestricted funding, so when we do, we seek opportunities to address the financial barriers that can stand between our students and their education. This is an investment in our students and in the future of our institution.”

With Fall 2026 registration taking place August 24–28, students who have previously been unable to register because of financial holds or outstanding institutional balances are encouraged to contact BFCC to determine whether they may be eligible for debt forgiveness and to discuss their options for returning this fall.

Students do not need to apply for debt forgiveness. Eligible institutional debt will be automatically forgiven. Former BFCC students do not need to complete anything additional to receive the forgiveness.

For questions about billing, tuition, fees, or your student account, please contact Student Accounts at Ilona Vaile, 406-338-5441 ext. 2234, or [email protected].

For questions about enrollment or returning to BFCC, please contact Admissions Director Ali Smith at [email protected] or 406-338-5421 ext. 2243.

If you are ready to return, apply online and take the next step toward your education at BFCC!

We look forward to welcoming everyone back for another great semester! 🖤📖

08/18/2026

As we return to work on Tuesday, 8/18/2026, the Facilities Department welcomes you back to campus. Hopefully we are all rested and excited to get back to work.

The SWL Parking lot continues to be under construction so the temporary traffic plan will be to use the roadway between SWL and YBW buildings as the temporary entrance and exit to the campus. Due to the narrow entrance EXTRA CAUTION will be required to safely merge on and off Southeast Boundary street. Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated.

Paving will begin on the SWL Park lot on 8/24/2026 and hopefully we will be able to utilize the normal entrance to campus shortly after paving is complete. Once again your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the BFCC Agrivoltaics Project!

We invite the community to join us for the ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating our new Agrivoltaics Project!

Wednesday, August 19, 2026
11:00 AM
BFCC Agriculture Building (East Campus)

This new 21.42 kW-DC / 17.3 kW-AC solar energy system will support our Forest Food Site while demonstrating how renewable energy can work alongside agriculture, water conservation, and sustainable land management.

The project was thoughtfully designed to minimize disturbance to the site while creating opportunities for education, hands-on learning, pollinator habitat, improved water efficiency, and healthier soils. The solar panels can also provide a cooler microclimate beneath the system, supporting both the site and solar energy production.

Join us for speeches and the ribbon cutting ceremony at 11:00 a.m., followed by lunch at the gray building east of the Garden.

We hope you’ll join us in celebrating this exciting step toward renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and hands-on learning at BFCC!
