‼️ATTENTION ‼️University of Montana STUDENTS‼️ applying for the Blackfeet Higher Education grant‼️‼️

We want you you all to be aware of the new process U of M wants the students to be aware of.
As you know we try to keep all of our applicants up to date on changes that occur involving turning in items need to be considered complete. The University of Montana no longer has a NATIVE AMERICAN COMPLIANCE SPECIALIST, meaning for the students attending or planning on attending U of M while applying for the Higher Ed grant you will need to do the following:
1. Email All FNA request to [email protected]
2. Mention Mary Opitz name when you email
3. Mention the tribe in which you are needing it for. (Blackfeet in our case)
4. Attach the blank FNA (besides the top portion needed to be filled out by you) to the email.

We apologize for the late notice, as we were just made aware of this today with less than 25 days left of our deadline. So please get them in ASAP.

FYI-Submit official college transcripts, if you previously attended college. Also, if you are currently a student in college, submit an Official Transcript, which includes Spring Term of current academic year. BHEP will not accept fax copies of official transcripts. We do accept National Clearing House, or Parchment, and they must be emailed directly to [email protected] (Due June 30).

Good Morning Students and Community members. With a month away from our second deadline we like to remind our applicants that colleges often close or operate on limited hours during this time of year.

Our Financial needs analysis (FNA) and Official College transcripts are part of the required documents needed to complete the application, they are also documentation you will need from your prospective schools you plan on attending.
Beat the rush and request your documents today!!!

We encourage all applicants to get these forms from the school ASAP. Waiting until the last minute risks missing the deadline and losing out on valuable scholarship opportunities.

June 29- July 13, 2026
August 3-17, 2026

As a quick reminder:
Please ensure that your application includes your current email address, phone number, and mailing address. With the upcoming deadline on June 30th, we will be verifying this contact information for all applicants.

Moving forward, we intend to use email as our primary method of communication. We have found this to be the most reliable channel, as physical mail is frequently returned and phone contact can be inconsistent. While important notices will still be sent via post, utilizing email will help ensure you receive all necessary updates in a timely manner.

We had a scholarship donor reach out to our office and wanted to share with our students and the public a scholarship available to them. Any questions or additional information can be found on there website by scanning the QR code. Sweetgrasscommunityfoundation.org. We have also tagged them in this post to get a little more information.
Please note the application deadline is March 27th.
"Sweet Grass Community Foundation in Big Timber and we have a donor who has established a scholarship fund for female, Montana-born students who would like to pursue post-secondary education in the areas of photography or cinematography."
