De La Salle Blackfeet School is a member of the Nativity-Miguel Network of schools. There are 64 Nativity-Miguel schools serving over 4,300 middle school age boys and girls in 27 states. Approximately 90% of the students attending Nativity-Miguel schools qualify for the Federal Government's Free and Reduced Cost Lunch program, an indication that a family is living at or near poverty. DLSBS is the only Network school in a rural area, and the first serving primarily Native Americans. All Nativity Miguel schools are Catholic, serve predominantly at-risk populations, are not tuition driven, have extended school days, small class size, and extend support to students beyond graduation. The Mission of the Nativity-Miguel Network of Schools is to enhance the viability and vitality of member schools and strengthen their capacity to deliver a uniquely effective, faith-based education to the middle school students in their care.

πŸŽ‰ Happy Birthday, Brother Dale Mooney! πŸŽ‰

Today, we wish Brother Dale Mooney a very happy birthday!

Brother Dale has given more than a decade of dedicated service to De La Salle Blackfeet School and the larger Blackfeet Reservation community. He served as President of DLSBS for nearly 13 years, from August 2012 until May 2025, providing steady, faithful leadership and helping shape the school we are today.

During his years as President, Brother Dale’s impact reached far beyond the walls of the school. Under his leadership, DLSBS alumni achieved a nearly 100% graduation rate from high school, a remarkable accomplishment that helped break through longstanding challenges facing young people in the community. He strengthened teacher retention, cultivated a strong community of volunteers, and deepened relationships with local families, supporters, and donors.

His dedication to ministry has been recognized well beyond Browning. Brother Dale was selected as a finalist for the 2023–2024 Lumen Christi Award, one of Catholic Extension's highest recognitions, honoring individuals whose ministry has made a profound difference in their communities.

Although Brother Dale retired from the presidency in 2025, his ministry at De La Salle Blackfeet continues. Today, he serves as President Emeritus and Advancement Strategist, working alongside the Development Office to strengthen the school’s future, cultivate relationships with supporters, and help ensure the continued success and impact of our ministry on the Blackfeet Nation community.

We are deeply grateful for the many ways Brother Dale has shared his vocation, leadership, wisdom, and heart with our students, families, staff, and community.

Thank you, Brother Dale, for your many years of faithful service and for all that you continue to do for De La Salle Blackfeet School. May God bless you abundantly on your birthday and in the year ahead!

Happy Birthday, Brother Dale!

And the first "Good Deed Ticket" of the year goes to 3rd Grader, Linus. These ticket reward and reinforce our Schoolwide Learning Expectations to build positive relationships, work for growth, be creator's hands, and embrace a sense of self! Thank you, Linus, for starting the year off strong and showing us that even the newest and youngest members of our community can model good behaviors for all of us!
