We're excited to welcome Stephanie Crosley as the emcee for the 9th Annual Brunch of Books!

Born and raised in Milwaukee, Stephanie is an author, entrepreneur, motivational speaker, event host, strategist, Volunteer Recruitment Specialist at SecureFutures, and most importantly, a proud mom to her son, Steph.

With degrees in Social Work, Communication, and Education, Stephanie is passionate about empowering children, strengthening families, and creating opportunities for others. She is also a dedicated autism advocate, using her voice and personal journey to promote awareness, inclusion, and understanding.

Her authenticity, compassion, and energy make her the perfect person to help guide us through a joyful morning celebrating literacy, imagination, and community.

BCDI-Wisconsin’s 9th Annual Brunch of Books is right around the corner, and we need YOU to help us create an amazing experience for children and families!

We have two opportunities to lend a hand:

Brunch of Books Bag Packing
Friday, August 28
4:30–6:00 PM
Help us prepare and pack book bags filled with books, literacy resources, and goodies for our families!

9th Annual Brunch of Books – Event Day
Saturday, September 5
11:00 AM–1:00 PM

Event-day volunteers will assist with setup, registration, welcoming families, activities, book and bag distribution, cleanup, and more.

Another wonderful week at the BCDI Wisconsin LITerature Corner Book Club!

This week, our young readers enjoyed Stacey’s Extraordinary Words by Stacey Abrams, read by our special guest reader, Akayla! The story gave us a fun opportunity to explore new words, build confidence, and remind our little readers that their words and their voices are powerful!

While the children enjoyed story time, our parents participated in a special mini-session with Maya Smart, author of Reading for Our Lives. Maya led an important conversation about the role parents and caregivers play in building strong readers and how everyday moments at home can help strengthen children’s literacy skills.

And when our littles started getting a little antsy—as littles sometimes do! —Zora stepped in to save the day with fun activities that kept everyone engaged, moving, and smiling.

Thank you to our guest reader and all of the amazing volunteers who showed up this week. Your time, energy, and support help make these experiences possible for our children and families. ❤️
