We Can't Build This Alone
When I started The Family Connection, I knew there would be a lot of work ahead.
What I didn't want was for this to become another program that simply tells young people what they should do.
I want us to walk alongside them.
Help them figure out their goals. Help them understand their finances. Help them prepare for work. Help them navigate housing. Connect them with people who can open doors.
But to do that, we need our community.
We're building this organization from the ground up, and we're asking people who care about Louisiana's young people to help us get there.
If you believe foster youth deserve support after they leave care, help us build it.

We're Asking You to Believe With Us
I'll be honest.
Building a nonprofit from the ground up isn't easy.
There are days when I look at everything that needs to happen and realize just how much work is ahead of us.
But then I think about why we started.
I think about the young person who will one day walk through our doors needing help figuring out what's next.
I think about the young person who needs someone to say, "You don't have to figure this out alone."
That's what keeps me going.
The Family Connection is a grassroots effort. We're raising the funds, building partnerships, recruiting volunteers, and laying the foundation for the services we believe Louisiana's foster youth deserve.
We're asking our community to believe with us.
If you can give, please give.
If you can volunteer, volunteer.
If you can connect us with a potential partner, make the introduction.
And if you can't do any of those things right now, share this post.
You never know who will see it and decide to become part of this mission.
We're building something because we believe these young people are worth investing in.
Help us take the next step.

Foster Friday Fact
In Louisiana, 209 young people exited foster care because they reached the age limit in State Fiscal Year 2025.
That's 209 young people transitioning out of the child welfare system and into adulthood.
And here's what I want people to understand:
Aging out is not the end of their need for support.
A young person may still need help finding housing.
They may need someone to help them create a budget.
They may need help navigating employment or education.
They may simply need a trusted adult who will listen.
This is why I started The Family Connection.
And with Louisiana's recent passage of House Bill 211, I believe this work is more urgent than ever.
We cannot wait until a young person is already experiencing homelessness to ask how we can help.
We need to prepare them before the crisis.
We're raising the funds needed to begin providing these services.
If you believe these young people deserve a chance to build stable, independent lives, please consider making a donation today.
Help us get started.

Businesses: You Can Be Part of This Too
When we talk about supporting foster youth, people often think about donating money.
And yes, funding matters.
But community support can look like so much more.
A business can provide an internship.
A professional can offer career guidance.
A company can sponsor a young person's participation in a program.
A community leader can make an introduction.
A mentor can share an hour of their time.
A landlord or housing professional can help us connect young adults with resources.
There are so many ways to help.
As we're building The Family Connection, we're looking for businesses, organizations, professionals, and community leaders who want to be part of the solution.
If you're interested in partnering with us, send us a message or visit our website.
We don't need everyone to do everything.
We just need more people willing to do something.

We Can't Expect Young Adults to Know What Nobody Taught Them
We expect young adults to know how to manage money.
How to budget.
How to find employment.
How to navigate a lease.
How to advocate for themselves.
How to plan for their future.
But here's the thing:
Nobody is born knowing how to do these things.
Most of us learned because someone taught us.
That's why life skills and financial education are such an important part of what we're building at The Family Connection.
We don't want to simply tell young people, "You're an adult now. Figure it out."
We want to help them learn how to figure it out.
That's the difference between expecting independence and preparing someone for independence.
We're raising funds now to help us begin providing these services to youth aging out of foster care.
If you believe preparation can change a young person's future, please consider making a donation.

Sometimes Support Looks Like a Simple Phone Call
One of the things I think about often is how much we take support systems for granted.
When something goes wrong, most of us have someone we can call.
A parent.
A sibling.
A friend.
A mentor.
Someone who can say, "Okay. Let's figure this out."
For a young person aging out of foster care, that person may not exist.
That's one of the gaps The Family Connection is working to address.
We want our young people to know they have someone they can turn to while they're learning how to navigate adulthood.
Someone who can help them think through their next step instead of making that step alone.
We're building this organization because relationships matter.
If you want to help us create those relationships, there are two ways you can start today:
Give. Volunteer. Share our mission.
Every one of those actions helps.

When I first started thinking seriously about The Family Connection, I kept coming back to one question:
What happens to a young person when foster care ends, but they still need someone in their corner?
Turning 18 doesn't automatically mean you're prepared for everything adulthood brings.
You still need guidance. You still need encouragement. You still need someone to call when you don't know what to do next.
I founded The Family Connection because I believe young people aging out of foster care deserve that kind of support.
We're working to build programs that provide mentorship, life skills, financial education, career guidance, case management, and connections to housing resources.
We're still building. We're still fundraising. We're still asking people to believe in what we're trying to accomplish.
And that's okay.
Every organization has to start somewhere.
We're starting with a community that cares.
If you believe Louisiana's foster youth deserve a stronger support system, please consider donating or sharing our mission.
Help us build this from the ground up.

Support Saturday
This Mission Starts With People Like You
Every organization has a beginning.
Ours begins with a community that refuses to let young people age out of foster care without hope.
We don't have a large fundraising team.
We don't have a national budget.
What we do have is a vision, dedicated volunteers, and people who believe every young adult deserves a chance to succeed.
If you've been following our journey, thank you.
Today, we're asking you to take the next step.
Make your first donation.
Become a monthly supporter.
Share our mission with someone who cares about Louisiana's youth.
Every gift, no matter the amount, helps us move closer to launching services for young adults who need them most.

Thank you for believing in what's possible.

Foster Friday Fact
Did you know that many young adults who age out of foster care have no permanent family to turn to when they need help?
Think about that for a moment.
No one to co-sign an apartment lease.
No one to call during an emergency.
No one to celebrate life's biggest milestones.
At The Family Connection Inc., we believe every young person deserves a support system, not just while they're in foster care, but long after.
That's why we're raising funds to launch programs that provide mentorship, financial literacy, life skills, educational support, and personalized case management.

Louisiana's Foster Youth Need More Than Good Intentions
Across our state, young adults are aging out of foster care every year.
Many are trying to find stable housing, employment, transportation, and a sense of belonging, all at the same time.
The recent passage of House Bill 211 makes stable housing even more important. When young people don't have a safe place to go, the challenges they face can grow quickly.
We can't afford to wait until a crisis happens.
That's why The Family Connection Inc. is building programs focused on prevention, connecting young adults with mentors, life skills, financial education, case management, and housing navigation before they reach a breaking point.
If you're a business owner, church leader, educator, or community advocate, we'd love to partner with you.
Real change happens when communities come together.
