Families, please read the important changes and updates below.

Morning:

In order to ensure our students are in their classrooms and ready to learn when instruction begins at 8:00 a.m., our morning arrival procedures will end promptly at 7:55 a.m.

At 7:55 a.m., staff members will close the car rider process and begin returning inside so they can be in classrooms and ready to support our students at the start of the instructional day. If your child is still in the car rider line at 7:55 a.m. and a staff member has not yet opened your child’s car door, you will need to proceed to the front doors for drop off. This does not mean they are tardy. 8:00 or after is considered tardy and will need to be checked in at the front office.

We appreciate your help in planning your morning arrival accordingly. Our goal is to make sure every student has a smooth transition into the school day and that instruction can begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. Thank you for partnering with us to help our students have a successful start to each day!

Afternoon:

Beginning Tuesday, September 8th, all students must be picked up from the car rider line by 3:15pm.

Students who have not been picked up by 3:15 pm will be sent to Extended Day. Contract hours end at 3:15 for teachers, and we cannot adequately supervise students past that time. Extended Day is an after-hour service offered to parents.

Several BWES faculty/staff members work Extended Day as part of additional contracted duties. They are paid using Extended Day fees so that we can provide after-school care for our families. We understand that emergencies and traffic problems happen, causing you to be delayed in picking your child up after school. That is why we are asking you to make certain your child is registered for Extended Day services in the event you are delayed in picking up your child after school. Sign up can be done through My School Bucks.

📚Book Character Parade📚

On September 9, 2026 help us celebrate One Million books for West Alabama children! TCSS students (and faculty/staff!) can show their support for United Way of West Alabama by wearing something representative of their favorite book. Students may also bring a monetary contribution of any amount to school - no amount is too small. All donations will go to United Way of West Alabama!
