Early Release Days aren’t just about getting a head start on the weekend. They give our teachers valuable time for professional development, training and collaboration...so they can bring new ideas, strategies and knowledge back to the classroom and, ultimately, to our students.

Here are the Professional Development Early Release Days for the 2026–2027 school year:

📚 Board Meeting Update
Last night’s Board Meeting began with a special show of school spirit as Central High School’s NJROTC proudly represented their school and led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.

We also had the opportunity to celebrate Joseph Peitler of Central High School for an incredible 32 years of service to Hernando County Schools! Thank you, Mr. Peitler, for the time, dedication and difference you’ve made for generations of students.

We appreciate all those who came out to share their concerns about the possible insurance rate increase and value the candid and respectful dialogue. We will remain steadfast in our pursuit to make things better for the students, faculty, staff and families in our district.

This is what community partnership looks like. 💙
We are so grateful to our friends at Southwest Florida Water Management District for helping our students start the school year on the right foot... literally! 👟

Through the generosity of SWFWMD staff, more than 1,000 pairs of sneakers were donated to children in need at four schools.

Thank you, Southwest Florida Water Management District, for investing in our students and helping make sure they have what they need to feel confident, comfortable and ready to learn. We are so fortunate to have community partners who show up for our kids in such meaningful ways. 💙
