Good evening, Leopard families! This is Principal Clifford with your Week at a Glance for Monday, August 24, through Friday, August 28.
⏰ Early Release Friday
Please remember that this Friday, August 28, is an early-release day. Students will be dismissed at 11:00 a.m. Families should make the necessary transportation and supervision arrangements for the earlier dismissal time.
We are continuing to celebrate the very positive start we have had to the school year! Our students are settling into their routines, and we appreciate the support of our families as we reinforce the expectations that help everyone succeed.
Please continue reminding your student about the importance of attending school every day, arriving at school and each class on time, following dress-code expectations, demonstrating appropriate hallway behavior, and coming to every classroom prepared to learn.
We are also highlighting students’ positive choices through PulseEDU. Staff members can award positive behavior points when students demonstrate Leopard PRIDE, meet our schoolwide expectations, and contribute positively to our campus. We want to recognize and celebrate students who consistently make good choices!
As we finalize our enrollment numbers, we are continuing to balance classes across campus. Because some classes are larger than others, a few additional student schedule changes may be necessary. We understand that schedule changes can require an adjustment, and we appreciate everyone’s patience as we work to create the best possible learning environment for every student.
🎮 eSports Update
If your student is enrolled in Mr. Lindo’s eSports class, a permission slip was sent home regarding the opportunity to bring a personal Nintendo Switch to school. Students must return the completed permission slip before bringing a device to campus. Personal devices may only be used in the eSports classroom under Mr. Lindo’s direction.
We are excited to begin building a competitive eSports team that will have the opportunity to compete against other middle schools from around the state!
📅 Attend Today. Lead Tomorrow.
Our attendance initiative this year is Attend Today. Lead Tomorrow. As part of Attendance Awareness Month, students may participate in a poster contest showing what they love about coming to school and why attendance matters.
Poster contest submissions are due September 30. Students interested in participating should speak with someone in our guidance department for additional information.
Remember: Students cannot benefit from the great instruction taking place in our classrooms unless they are present, on time, and ready to learn.
🎓 Attention, Eighth-Grade Families!
Parents and guardians of eighth-grade students, please watch for an invitation to our upcoming Eighth-Grade Parent Night.
During this important event, we will share information about upcoming test dates, fundraisers, promotion requirements, and other items families need to know as we help our eighth graders prepare for a successful final year of middle school and the transition to high school.
🎶 Fine Arts Update—Take Note!
This week’s main event is Color Guard tryouts! Tryouts will be held after school on Wednesday, August 26, and Thursday, August 27, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Students should report to the band room immediately after school. Please look for an email from Ms. Gressle regarding the required athletic clearance.
🌱 Club Updates—Let’s Grow, Leopards!
Our Garden Club will begin Monday, September 14, and will meet after school until 5:00 p.m. Students interested in joining may pick up a permission slip from Mrs. Melissa in the front office.
We look forward to watching both our garden and our students grow throughout the year!
🎉🕺 Leopards, Get Ready to Dance! 💃🎉
Our Back-to-School Bash Dance is coming Friday, September 11, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Get ready for an afternoon filled with music, friends, dancing, and plenty of Leopard fun!
Tickets are only $5 and will go on sale Tuesday, September 8. Mark your calendars now—this is one Back-to-School Bash you will not want to miss!
🍕 Slice the Price Is Back!
I do not know about the rest of our Leopard families, but I look forward to this fundraiser every year!
Our Slice the Price Domino’s cards will go on sale next Monday, August 31. Information will be sent home with students that day.
The cards are $20 and offer buy-one-get-one-free large pizzas. They are perfect for family movie nights, birthday parties, team celebrations, or any night when you simply do not feel like cooking!
Having a party and need 20 pizzas? Buy 10 and receive 10 free! It is a great deal for our families and a great way to support our school.
💻 Monitor Canvas and Skyward
Finally, families should regularly monitor their student’s Canvas courses and Skyward account. Teachers will begin using Canvas more frequently for classroom assignments, resources, and information.
However, Skyward remains the place to find your student’s most current and official grades. Please make checking Skyward part of your family’s weekly routine so that questions or concerns can be addressed early.
A portion of the proceeds from our Slice the Price fundraiser will support schoolwide student activities, Teacher Appreciation Week, and other related school expenses. Thank you for helping us create meaningful experiences for our students while also celebrating the dedicated teachers and staff members who serve them each day!
