The apology after an argument.
The respect shown when they say “no” to a hug.

Feeling safe is not about getting everything right. It’s about being steady enough that a child learns: “My feelings matter here. I can ask for help. I won’t be left alone with the hard stuff.”

A few small moments of care, repeated over time, can build trust that lasts.
