YOU’VE SEEN THE PAINT YOUR PARTNER TREND… NOW IT’S YOUR TURN!

On Saturday, September 5th from 7–9 PM, grab your boyfriend, girlfriend, best friend, sibling, parent, or anyone else you’d love to paint and join us at The Artist’s Realm for Paint Your Partner Night!

You’ll sit across from your partner with a blank canvas and attempt to paint their portrait using acrylic paint. The catch? No peeking until the big reveal at the end of the night.

This is NOT a serious portrait painting class. Your painting can be beautiful, ridiculous, weirdly accurate, or completely unrecognizable. That’s the whole point.

If you’ve wanted to try the viral trend but didn’t want to go out and buy canvases, brushes, paints, palettes, and a bunch of art supplies you may never use again, we’ve got you covered. Everything is provided. Just show up with your partner and be ready to have fun.

I’ll be there throughout the night to offer some gentle portrait tips and help if you get stuck, but this event is meant to be low-pressure, silly, creative, and fun for absolutely any skill level.

Me and Mr Steven love recording silly videos for The Artist’s Realm!

Here’s an updated look at our music room after lots of building, rearranging, soundproofing and getting everything set up for our first students!

We still have a few finishing touches left, including adding more soundproofing foam, replacing the strings on our guitars, stocking up on extra strings and drumsticks, and eventually installing our classroom door with a window.

We may begin lessons before the door is installed, but no worries! We will not schedule other classes at the same time as music lessons until the room is fully enclosed, so our students can still have their one-on-one lesson time with Mr. Steven without competing with another class happening nearby.

We are SO excited to have Mr. Steven beginning one-on-one piano, guitar and drum lessons soon, along with Miss Alyssuh beginning our new photography and digital media classes!

I’ve had quite a few people tell me how surprised they are that The Artist’s Realm is “expanding” so quickly, but the funny thing is… this was actually always the plan!

When we opened, I intentionally started with a softer opening where I taught the majority of our classes myself while I learned how to operate the studio, got comfortable with our schedule and figured out what our community actually wanted. The goal was always to eventually bring additional instructors into the space so that multiple classrooms could be running at once.

We’ve only been open for a couple of months, and it’s incredibly exciting to finally see the other classrooms coming to life!

On this episode of The Artist’s Realm After Dark… we built drum sets!

Mr. Steven and I stayed quite a bit later than planned getting our new drum sets, keyboard stand, and the rest of the music room set up and ready to go because music lessons officially begin September 8!

We’re hoping to open Tuesday lesson times for booking by the end of this week, and our waitlist will get FIRST DIBS before remaining times are released to the public.

A few things to know before booking:

🎹 Piano & Drums: We have the instruments here! No need to bring anything with you.

🎸 Guitar: We do have guitars available, but we highly recommend bringing your own if you have one. Learning and practicing consistently on your own instrument is ideal.

🎵 Lessons are one-on-one and paid per session. Unlike our recurring art class memberships, there is no ongoing commitment. You can book one lesson to try it out or reserve several weeks in advance.

🗓️ Want the same time every Tuesday? We recommend booking several sessions ahead. Your time is only reserved for the dates you actually book, so booking ahead gives you the best chance of keeping your preferred weekly time slot.

We already have quite a few future musicians on our waitlist! Those families and students will receive first access to available times before we open booking to everyone else.

The Artist’s Realm has only been open for about two months, and I genuinely did not expect to be expanding into music and photography this quickly. The support our art classes have received made it possible for us to start finishing these additional classrooms far earlier than I imagined.

Now we’re building drum sets at night and getting ready to welcome our first music students. 🥹

This owner is officially becoming a student!!!

One thing I committed to when opening The Artist’s Realm was that I never wanted to own a creative business while being completely disconnected from the experience of actually being creative.

I’ve worked in creative spaces where the people owning the place and making the decisions had very little personal connection to or knowledge of art or music, and I know how frustrating that can feel as an artist and instructor working under them. I never want to forget how much time, practice, vulnerability, frustration and WORK goes into learning a creative skill.

So, I signed myself up for music lessons with our new music instructor, Mr. Steven!

I’m starting with piano, and when I say starting, I mean STARTING. I’ve touched a piano maybe a handful of times in my entire life. This video is a little behind-the-scenes look at my very first lesson, and I genuinely had no idea what I was doing when I sat down.

But that’s also the point.

I talk all the time about how you are never too old to start making art, learning an instrument, taking photographs or trying something creative for the first time. If I’m going to tell our students that, I want to practice what I preach.

So at 26 years old, I’m learning piano. And I’m going to share my progress as I go!

I also wanted to share this because our music lessons are NOT just for kids! Adults are absolutely welcome. Whether you’ve never touched an instrument before, played years ago and want to start again, or have been telling yourself for years that you’re going to finally learn, you are welcome here.

I’m personally someone who has said “I could probably teach myself on YouTube” approximately 500 times and then proceeded to never actually do it. Having a weekly lesson gives me the instruction AND accountability to actually follow through.

Mr. Steven will be teaching one-on-one piano, guitar and drum lessons every Tuesday at The Artist’s Realm, and lessons are paid individually at $30 per 30 minute session.

Another successful workshop on the books!

The Artist’s Realm & Arts n Tails hosted a super fun Watercolor Pet Portraits with Arts N Tails Workshop today, and it was such a hit!

Jess with Arts N Tails put SO much love and effort into this workshop, including sketching everyone’s pets beforehand so that when everyone arrived, all they had to do was sit down, relax, and paint! She’s still relatively new to the Brooksville area, so we would love to see our community show her some love, give Arts n Tails a follow, and keep an eye out for her upcoming events!

And just LOOK at these pet portraits!! Everyone did such an incredible job. I even got to join in and paint my kitty, Knives, and had a TOTAL blast. I can’t wait to take it home and show her. Hopefully she approves of her portrait!!!

We had such a fun Saturday creating together, and The Artist’s Realm was so lucky to get to join in on the fun!

WOO!! So excited for this paint-your-pet workshop on Saturday!

Y’all are amazing! In the last 24 hours, I went from having 3 people signed up for my watercolor pet portrait class at The Artist's Realm tomorrow to having 12! People signed up!!!! HERE IS TO A VERY BUSY AFTERNOON!! I love it! Keep em coming!
