Soul Raider Nation!
This is Mr. Armstrong. I am sad to announce that I will not be returning to Reagan High School this fall. I have enjoyed my 11 years and will cherish every moment. The students that have passed through the Soul Raider Band, have help create something new, and make it superior when there were so many doubters.
Not many students can say they performed with with Kanye West, Blue Man Group, Rebirth Brass Band, Youngblood Brass Band, Ozomatli, and been a regular cast member on Friday Night Lights. And only 60 kids will ever be able to say " I was the first show style band to advance to UIL Area marching contest."
I know that Mr. Guice and the new director will challenge and push the students to continue the tradition the Soul Raiders have created. I have no doubt they will continue to be successful and stop "making history" and make superiority the norm.
I have already been preparing for my next venture, which is graduate school in Jazz Performance. Instead of giving lessons, I will be taking them so that I am prepared for upcoming auditions in December.
I have so many people to thank for supporting me throughout my time at Reagan. Thank everyone. Really, everyone....which includes the people who didn't believe in me or what the kids at Reagan could accomplish.
I won't be far away if the Soul Raiders ever need my assistance.
