May peace be with you.
Maine native plants for pollinators, people, and the planet. Message for the list! I can deliver to Belfast on some days. In person is my favorite!
I am intermittently on social media, so email and text are better forms of getting in touch. A selection of plants will also be available at Brambles in Belfast beginning June 3, if not earlier. Thanks for your patience as I have two part time jobs off the nursery so response times may not be immediate. I look forward to seeing you this season.

What’s going on here? Fall Planting! Almost all of this is nursery stock from 2023. That season I identified jumping worms on my property and because of my nursery practices had questions about whether these plants might harbor eggs of this worm (the adults die off in the winter). Instead of destroying all my babies, I decided to plant up some large gardens from which I will collect seed. These gardens are also demonstration plots. This is a full sun area except on the right side, which is part sun. Then, certain areas within the bed will also be shady as the larger grasses and perennials get going (edges of interior paths and under big plants). No shrubs because the location is within potential snow plow deposit range. Well drained, so everything needs to have some drought tolerance once established as I won’t be watering. It’s a big experiment and I look forward to all the plants teaching me. Over 700 plants are going in now, mostly plugs or small pots. If you would like to follow this process in more detail, message me your email and I will include you in my newsletter. A bit more info is in the comments below.

Friendly Reminder! The native plant sale is Saturday, September 7th from 9 to noon. The sale takes place library in Blue Hill. The library is surrounded by beautiful native gardens and that itself is worth the trip!
will be there along with .elements and Rebel Hill Farm. I am only bringing to the sale plants that other vendors don’t offer (yet), but that’s 30 species! However, I am taking pre-orders for my whole Maine native inventory which is about 70 species. Let me know if you would like the list or have any questions.

Pre-ordering open for both the plant sale (Saturday, 9/7 from 9-noon) and the Camden Plant Sale (Sunday, 9/15 from 9-1). I have lots of species but limited quantities. I won’t be able to bring everything to either sale so pre-orders are very helpful. My blue vervain, is setting seed now. As are a few of the other species and I haven’t cut them back. Message to your email and I will send you up to date lists. Fall is for planting!

Astrid, why is the end of August and through September and even into early October a good time to plant perennials?????
#1: The soil is warm. In spring the soil is cold. Into which would you prefer to be planted? It’s all about the roots. In fall, the soil stays warm MUCH longer than the air. As long as you can keep your plants watered, they will have a good amount of time to put roots out. #2: You may have to water less. Please note, I wrote MAY. If there is regular fall rain, great. If not, you will need to keep your plants watered and possibly longer than you expected. The death knell for fall planting is a desiccated root ball in frozen soil.
#3: It is incredibly pleasant to garden this time of year. Don’t spend time tidying up your garden. Plant more plants.
I have plants. I have up-to-date lists with prices, quantities, and info. Message me if you’d like me to email them to you and/or you would like to plan a visit to the nursery. Thank you!
