Brooklyn Writing Foundry Launches In-person Classes for New Low-Residency MFA Program - On Campus - St. Joseph's University, New York 07/22/2026

Our Brooklyn Writers Foundry Creative Writing MFA students had an extraordinary week in June jam-packed with workshops, lectures and seminars focused on the craft of writing contemporary works of fiction, nonfiction and poetry. This was the first time students in Brooklyn's only low-residency MFA program were able to experience our beautiful Clinton Hill campus and the NYC literary scene in person.

Faculty News 📰 | For as long as Dr. Kestrel Perez can remember, she knew she wanted to study the ocean. Currently, Dr. Perez's research focuses on how environmental stressors affect the earliest life stages of marine fish: the larvae, the juveniles, the small forage species that invisibly hold the entire marine food web together.

While you were away ... we spotted a new visitor at : a common snapping turtle! 🐢 Typically found in water (e.g. Patchogue Lake), females often travel onto land during this time of year to lay eggs. Sustainability Through Student Research in the Shea Garden - On Campus - St. Joseph's University, New York 07/15/2026

Funded through a gift from Trustee Marsilia Boyle ’69, students, faculty, staff and alumni gathered earlier this summer to clear out weeds and overgrown bushes from the Shea Garden behind O'Connor Hall, replacing them with native plants donated by the Long Island Native Plant Initiative (LINPI).

Sustainability Through Student Research in the Shea Garden - On Campus - St. Joseph's University, New York This summer, two biology students have been tending to the Shea Garden while using as it space for research and sustainability.
