Criteria
When a parent expresses interest they receive an appointment where they are interviewed by the school's director/principal.

Shortly afterward, a guided school tour is performed whereby the parents are given the necessary information on programs and an opportunity to ask questions pertaining to the facilities and faculty.

Once the parent chooses to register the child a Registration Fee will complete the admission process.

We accept candidates for Pre-K through Grade 6.

Curriculum
In the major academic areas of Math, Science, Social Studies, English and Language Arts, Steps Elementary follows a curriculum designed to meet standards set by the New York State Department of Education. All students are adequately prepared for the yearly state tests that are offered at their respective levels.

The state requirements are further enhanced and reinforced by the Open Court Reading Program. This program differentiates instruction to meet the needs of every student, giving him/her the benefits of individualized instruction and helping the student experience success in becoming a proficient reader at a very early age.

In addition to the Open Court program, Steps Elementary School uses the Hardcourt Math, Science, and Social Studies textbooks. These areas provide very important links presenting a comprehensive and complete approach to learning. Students skills are sharpened through hands-on activities, critical thinking, test preparation and assessment. As a result our students maintain 100% success at the state tests. Steps Elementary also offers instruction in Spanish, French, and Introduction to Computers.
