Mixed age classes allow for different types of participation and collaboration. They also create opportunities for playing at varying rhythms. The play speeds up and slows down as children throw out ideas and make their needs known.

One of the gifts that comes from spending week after week in the park slowing down to the pace of the children, is getting to see the changes big and small that happen all around us.
Fall is my favorite season to witness. We start with the bright greens left over from summer and gradually they turn to beautiful golden and fiery shades before deepening into the dark stillness of winter.

Imagine you are a 2-3-4-5 year old living in a big city, every week you get in your stroller or scooter and go to the park, you walk the same path and notice the changes of the season, you know exactly where you are going.

It’s hard to describe how wonderful you are in a short text. But those who are lucky to met you know. They know how much you love and care for children, how patient and kind you are, how they trust you because you take them seriously, they know how easy is to love you.

This season les niñes have been very busy playing with our mud kitchen materials. As the season changes from invierno to primavera the menu has turned over from soups to cakes.
Our open ended materials give the children space to bring their own experiences and knowledge into the play. We can easily see this reflected in the “ingredients” they use to make us delicious treats that reflect their home life. Albaca! Azúcar! Canela! 🍃🥣🥄

Durante la temporada, intentamos mantener los mismos materiales de principio a fin, con algunas variaciones, dependiendo de los intereses del grupo.
A los ojos de los adultos quizás podrá parecer aburrido o repetitivo, pero lxs niñxs encuentran tanto beneficio en estar expuestos a los mismos materiales. La repetición les ayuda a conocer objetos a detalle y dominar el uso de estos.

Nido is celebrating their 🔟th season!
And we are so full of gratitude and excitement💝
We’ve told this story many times but here goes again. I (Paulina) met Melina and her family when I cared for their firstborn, my first job in the city as an immigrant, as our relationship grew we worked together to birth Nido, a few seasons later our dearest Carolina joined us, and Carolina is know an integral part of Nido♥️
Since the birth of Nido we have birthed 2 more human babies 👶🏻👶🏻 have welcomed more than 300 families 😳 from all backgrounds and nationalities, have played in snow, heat and my favorite: rain ☔️
We have navigated to stay open throughout the pandemic, while protecting everyone.
Nido is made by immigrant WOC and fueled by hope, love and most importantly RESPECT ♥️ to children and childhood.
Thank you for being part of our story. We can’t wait to keep playing in nature with you! 🌈⛅️❄️
