Beansprouts Nursery School

Beansprouts Nursery School has been a Park Slope tradition since 1980. Our classrooms belong to the children and our teachers serve as guides and mentors.

Beansprouts was founded in 1980 and serves children between the ages of 2 to 9. From its beginnings as a cooperative preschool in a single classroom, Beansprouts has grown into a significant neighborhood resource for children and their families. We offer a comprehensive program which promotes physical, emotional, social and cognitive development.

Our final bake sale this week was from the Willow Tree class! They raised money for Antarctic and Southern Ocean Coalition to protect Emperor Penguins and their habitats. The children have been learning how the ice bergs are melting and the penguins need our help! Thank you to all our families and classes who supported them by purchasing yummy treats and beautiful jewelry! 🐧🖤🤍

The Birch Tree class bake sale yesterday was a huge success! They raised money for the Whale and Dolphin Conservation to help protect Orcas. The class has been learning about Orcas all month and loved sharing facts with their customers! Thank you to all who supported the Birch Trees! 🖤🤍

It’s bake sale time! Today the Oak Tree class held a bake sale for the Steve Irwin Wildlife Warrior Foundation to support Koala conservation! The children have been learning all about koalas this month and are excited to “adopt” some from the Australian Zoo! Thank you to all the families and classes that supported them! 🐨💚

Our Maple Tree service project is complete! The children held a bake sale in their classroom last week to raise money for the community fridge outside the . After raising almost $500, the children created lists and went shopping at the grocery store. Today we stocked the pantry and fridge for people in our community! Thank you to the Maple Tree families and other Beansprouts classes who helped our 4s complete this community project. 💚

What a wonderful day for professional development! Thank you to for a fantastic presentation on Emotional Intelligence and Play! There were so many great takeaways the teachers are excited to implement. Beansprouts teachers also were able to learn from each other. Today was the Maple Tree fashion show! The children walked the catwalk to the music of their choice in their special outfits. During their clothes and fashion unit, the children have been creating their own clothing and learning about their artist of the month Alexander McQueen. We can’t wait to make Batik shirts next week! 💚

The Oak Tree class is learning all about colors and rainbows. The children enjoyed some handprint color mixing with a friend. It was so fun to make new colors with our hands! 🎨 💚
