Books to Read While Watching the WNBA Finals 

The 2026 WNBA Finals are officially underway, and we’ve got some book recommendations to go along with all the basketball action! 

This year’s championship series features the Golden State Valkyries taking on the Atlanta Dream, with both teams looking to capture their first WNBA championship!

With Game 2 coming up on Monday, October 19th, we’ve put together a reading list celebrating women’s basketball, the incredible athletes who have helped shape the game, and the stories and lessons that extend far beyond the court.

Rapsody Reading List 📚🎤

Rapsody is more than a rapper. The Grammy-nominated North Carolina artist is also a songwriter, storyteller, creative, and, as this list shows, an avid reader. Throughout her career, she’s used her music to explore themes of Black identity, womanhood, love, empowerment, self-discovery, and social consciousness.

Most recently, Rapsody released her latest album, God Gotta Afro & Gold Hoops, in August 2026. The project continues her exploration of Black identity, spirituality, self-worth, love, and empowerment, using hip-hop as a platform for storytelling, reflection, and meaningful conversations.

And when you look at her reading list, you can see some of those same themes reflected in the books she reads. From Black history, literature, and revolutionary thought to spirituality, love, creativity, and personal development, Rapsody’s book recommendations cover a wide range of subjects.
