Lizzo Announces Children’s Book

Grammy and Emmy Award-winning singer, songwriter, rapper, musician, actress, and now children’s book author Lizzo is bringing her creativity to the bookshelf.

Her debut picture book, Lil Lizzo Meets Sasha B. Flootin’, follows a young girl and a smart, sassy flute named Sasha B. Flootin’ as they embark on an adventure filled with music, friendship, and discovering your own voice.

The book is illustrated by Mark Pett and even includes access to an exclusive flute song by Lizzo and Sasha Flute.

Pitching Black Kidds Read Too Be Like ..

“Coins must be secured. My God! The children, the children, the children are lost without me. I’m lost without a coin.”

All jokes aside, building Black Kidds Read Too and bringing the vision to life takes resources. There’s only so much you can build alone without capital, especially when you’re trying to consistently create quality content, produce original programming, host live events, bring authors and readers together, and grow something that can make a real impact.

We’re looking to collaborate with brands, organizations, publishers, businesses, and sponsors who align with the vision and understand the power of investing in literacy, culture, creativity, and community.

Because I truly don’t think there are many things more impactful than inspiring someone to read. A book can introduce you to an idea. An idea can change how you think. And changing how you think can change the trajectory of your life.

So yes… the coins must be secured. But more importantly, we want to secure them with people who believe in what we’re building.

From New York Knicks captain, NBA All-Star, and NBA champion Jalen Brunson comes an inspiring new children’s book about trying new things, working hard, and discovering your strengths along the way.

In announcing the project, Jalen shared that this story is about understanding that success doesn’t happen overnight. There are mistakes, setbacks, and moments where giving up may feel easier than continuing forward.

While basketball was always at the center of his journey, Jalen explains that every sport he played helped shape the habits, character, discipline, and work ethic that made him who he is today.
