We transform "regular folks" into welders, woodworkers, welders, jewelry makers, leather crafters, knife forgers, and stained glass artisans in just one workshop. We want to give space, tools, and instruction to allow "regular folks" to hand-make their very own wood, metal, and leather projects in a laid-back, hands-on atmosphere that guarantees success. In this immersive hands-on workshop at our Brooklyn makerspace, you’ll build a one-inch scale Haunted Halloween Book Nook designed to nestle between books on a shelf. Step into the workshop and discover a table filled with curious textures: dark moss, gnarled branches, miniature pumpkins, tiny lanterns, and the beginnings of a spooky little world waiting to come to life.

With gentle guidance, you’ll shape eerie terrain, craft miniature spooky trees, and layer dark and whimsical elements to build your own haunted scene in miniature. Along the way you’ll learn approachable mixed-media techniques for creating realistic textures and atmospheric landscapes at small scale. No experience is needed, just curiosity and a willingness to embrace the spooky side.

Since our opening in 2015, our workshops at Craftsman Ave have focused on teaching the skills needed to make some pretty cool masterpieces. We offer classes on knife making, woodworking, welding, leather-working, stained glass and more.

Workshops are approximately 4 hours long, and are taught by experienced makers that live and thrive in New York City. We limit the number of guests to ensure everyone gets personalized attention from our instructors. Each class is designed for beginners or experienced artisans alike, no prior experience is necessary.

This workshop introduces you to the art and science of barrel making, also known as coopering. Barrels have long been used to age spirits as they are the source of the various and often subtle flavors that make each spirit unique and drinkable. Without the mighty barrel and the flavors and smoothness it imparts, we’d all be resigned to drinking moonshine (which is effectively rubbing alcohol, or at least that’s what it tastes like).
