The PS 124 Mutual Aid Group is excited to announce our next seasonal clothing and housewares swap!
Why We Gather:
As a mutual aid group, we believe these events thrive when everyone pitches in — not just by donating, but by helping to sort, organize, and build community together. This is a community-wide event open to everyone, not just PS 124 families.
With the challenges many community members are facing we want this event to be a space where neighbors feel safe, welcome, and connected. So bring your kids, snacks (enough to share!), bubbles, and come spend time together!
What to Expect:
Donations will be accepted the day of the event at PS 124. If you bring items, please plan to stay and help sort, even if only for a short while. Please do not bring large, unsorted bags of items.
Volunteers are needed throughout the day for setup, sorting, and cleanup. Coffee, donuts, breakfast sandwiches will be available for all volunteers!
Why Swap?
Swapping keeps quality items in circulation, reduces waste, and helps neighbors access what they need at no cost. We encourage you to take home what works for your family — you do not have to donate in order to shop.
Donation Guidelines:
Bring only in-season, high-quality items in great condition (washed with no rips, stains, or worn material); all housewares should be in working order. Ask yourself: Would I buy this second-hand?
If the answer is no, please do not bring it to the swap. Items that do not meet these standards should go to textile recycling. Many local farmers’ markets collect them. Please don’t bring them to the swap - this creates extra labor for our volunteers.
