Genesis 4:4 (NASB) - "Abel brought fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The Lord looked with favor on Abel and his offering."
My wife used to always ask for the last bite of my food⊠the part I saved on purpose đ©
But giving it up taught me something:
That it wasnât just sharingâit was sacrifice.
An offering gives what you have.
A sacrifice gives what youâd rather keep.
Thatâs why Abelâs gift matteredâhe gave God his best, not his leftovers.
Real question: Would I rather keep this or give it to God?
Sometimes faith looks like giving God your âlast bite.â

Years ago, I watched my cat, Miss Penelope, crouched low in the grass, completely still. A bird kept swooping down, teasing herâagain and again.
I walked awayâŠuntil I heard my wife scream.
Miss Penelope walked into the kitchen with her prize.
Poor bird.
It reminded me of Godâs warning in Genesis 4:7
âSin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.â
Sin is patient. It watches. It waits for the right momentâwhen youâre tired, vulnerable, or distracted.
But hereâs the good news: you are not powerless.
God has given you what you need to overcome. The key is recognizing where sin is âcrouchingâ in your lifeâand dealing with it before it deals with you.
Donât walk away from Godâs presence without His strategy for victory.
You can overcomeâthrough Him.
