Cristo Rey Brooklyn is a Catholic High School that educates young people of limited economic means to become men and women of faith, purpose and service. By offering a rigorous curriculum, a unique work-study experience, and the support of an inclusive school community, we prepare our students to succeed in college and beyond with the values essential to a fulfilling life.

Throughout the spring semester, all Cristo Rey Brooklyn High School freshmen took part in the AI League program, a career-connected learning experience and citywide competition for NYC students. MOUSE AI empowers young people to be problem solvers and leaders in a tech-driven world by learning and applying UI/UX design, Generative AI, and Computer Science to build working prototypes and products that improve life across NYC.

This is the second year of CRB's collaboration with MOUSE AI, and, under the guidance of Cristo Rey Brooklyn's Operations and Curriculum Associate Ms. Shay Abrahams, students identified real challenges facing communities—from education and health to sustainability and advocacy—and designed app prototypes using Figma to create solutions that can make a difference.

For this year's presentation day, students were joined by representatives from MOUSE AI, including Gemelli Briceño, senior program manager of the AI League and Larry Lieberman, chief executive officer, as they pitched mockups of their apps, explaining their ideation process and their personal connections to some of the social issues they addressed, along with the AI tools they used to create the mockups.

A special thank you to for sponsoring this year’s program and helping Cristo Rey Brooklyn High School offer opportunities that empower the next generation of innovators.

Each year, beyond our 70+ corporate work study partners, Cristo Rey Brooklyn also partners with vibrant, mission-driven NYC and global organizations that help us create transformative opportunities and experiences for students that could happen only in NYC.

This spring, CRB’s Art Club joined Liverpool Football Foundation’s (LPF) Creative Works USA team for an-eight week program focused on teaching employability skills to art students. These skills were then translated to hands-on art projects, with this year’s program participants creating miniature self-portrait sculptures, modeled after the tradition of Japanese Manga. Their final sculptures were included at LPF’s World Book Day event, which was supported by , one of the world’s largest publishing companies, and created space for students to reflect on their personal narratives.

“Joining the Creative Works team and participating in their activities was engaging, enjoyable, and exciting all mixed into one," said Danielle F., '29. "The project enabled me to meet people outside of CRB who were new and amazing.”

The Most Rev. Robert J. Brennan, Bishop of Brooklyn, celebrated Ascension Thursday Mass at Cristo Rey Brooklyn High School this morning alongside co-celebrants Fr. Hilaire Belizaire, pastor of St. Jerome Parish, and Fr. Dwayne Davis, pastor of St. Thomas Aquinas Church.

In his homily, Bishop Brennan challenged students to live boldly in faith and purpose, reminding them that the way they carry themselves in school, at work, and in their communities reflects not only the mission of Cristo Rey, but also the light of Christ Himself.

“When people see you and what you're doing in the workplace, they see all of us—they see this place, and they see Cristo Rey,” Bishop Brennan said. “When people see the way you are living your lives, they see Cristo Rey School — and they see Cristo Rey the person.”

Following Mass, the celebration continued with a moving liturgical dance organized by CRB junior Karizma M., ’27. The bishop was also presented with a painting of the bishop's coat of arms created by Grace C., ’27.

The Cristo Rey Brooklyn community knows that leadership is about more than academics—it’s about creating environments where students feel safe enough to take risks, grow, and discover who they can become.

In a recent episode of the unMASKing with Male Educators podcast with Ashanti Branch, Mr. Clyde Cole, Cristo Rey Brooklyn principal, shared reflections on his academic experiences, the concept of lifelong learning, the educators who elevate students “between the lines,” and the importance of building schools where every young person feels supported.

Mr. Cole also discussed his Five Domain Framework for School Leadership—a model grounded in safety, inspiration, emotional risk-taking, and the shared responsibility adults have in helping students thrive.

“At Cristo Rey Brooklyn, we want [students] to feel like they can take risks, in class, and outside of class," Mr. Cole said. "Creating an environment where risk taking, particularly emotional risk taking, is OK, is what I strive to do from the leadership seat."

We’re excited to share that Cristo Rey Brooklyn was selected as a recipient of the 2026 Paul Purcell “Kids Win!” Annual Education Grant, in the amount of $50,000! The grant—which was established in 2020 as a tribute to former Baird Chairman Paul E. Purcell—supports organizations that ensure that young people can access the knowledge and tools necessary to build better lives. It is funded by Baird, Baird Foundation, and Baird associates, and this year’s 38 recipients received a total of $2 million in grants.

Special thanks Strategas and CRB board member Rob LaPolla, for their advocacy and support throughout the grant process, and for helping the Cristo Rey Brooklyn community live out our mission.
