Red Hook Art Project

Today, our founder, artistic director, emerging artists, and some of our younger artists from the Red Hook Art Project spent the day out in the sunshine, hanging vinyl artwork throughout Coffey Park in preparation for our upcoming community celebration this Friday.

With the breeze blowing and the neighborhood full of life, our young people proudly installed artwork they created right here in Red Hook. Every piece tells a story, reflects a voice, and represents the creativity, resilience, and imagination of our youth.

If you're walking through or around Coffey Park this week, take a moment to stop, look, and celebrate the incredible talent on display along the black fencing surrounding the park.

These young artists have worked hard to make our community more vibrant, welcoming, and beautiful. We ask our neighbors to help us protect and respect the artwork, and most importantly, show our young people that their voices matter. Your support, encouragement, and presence mean more than you know.

Join us this Friday as we celebrate over 150 pieces of artwork created by local youth. When our young people create, our community shines.

After 53 years, the New York Knicks have given New York something to cheer about, and today we're honoring the moment the only way we know how with blue and orange creamsicles for our young people and community.

When New York wins, we all win. The pride, the passion, the resilience, the heart that's what this city is built on.

Today we're celebrating teamwork, perseverance, and the joy of seeing something we’ve waited a long time for finally happen.

Back in 2023, the Red Hook Art Project’s Emerging Artists had the incredible opportunity to design and install two new murals at the Red Hook Pool. This project provided our young artists with a paid opportunity to create public artwork that reflects the creativity, talent, and pride of our community.

A special thank you to Alexa Avilés and Andrew Gounardes for supporting this work and investing in opportunities for young people through the arts. Every piece of artwork tells a story, and every story deserves to be heard. At Red Hook Art Project, art helps young people discover their voice, build resilience, and imagine new possibilities for their future.

We are so excited at the Red Hook Art Project to launch our I Am Not Broken series at this year's Juneteenth public exhibition.

This special exhibition will showcase more than 150 pieces of artwork created by students living in Red Hook and throughout the waterfront community. We are incredibly proud to celebrate the creativity, talent, and voices of these young artists.

The artwork will be displayed for three months along the black fencing surrounding the park, transforming the space into an outdoor gallery that reflects the stories, experiences, and imagination of our community's youth.

We could not be more proud of what these young people have accomplished, and we are honored to share their work with the community.

Field Trip to Our Mural!

Today, our young Emerging Artists took a special trip to the Red Hook Terminal to visit the mural created by our older Emerging Artists!

Seeing their artwork displayed on such a large scale was inspiring, exciting, and a reminder that creativity can leave a lasting mark on our community. The students had the opportunity to take photos in front of the mural, learn about the artists who created it, and imagine what they might create one day themselves.

Big dreams start with small steps. Art connects generations. Community makes it all possible.
