The arts are essential to America. Last Friday’s sweeping termination of NEA grants across the entire field impacts arts at every level of our country. Whether you know artists and organizations who had their money taken from them or not, it’s important to contact your representatives and let them know how important the arts are to you and your family. It doesn’t matter if you are in a blue or red state: all of our representatives need to hear from us.

Reunited with some of our ALL AMERICAN BOYS OGs last night to celebrate the book launch of newest, TWENTY-FOUR SECONDS FROM NOW…
It was so good to hear Jason speak about the how and why of writing this book and the importance of books for young people, especially Black boys, that deal with feelings around having s*x (writing it that way because as Jason pointed out, media coming out about this book are not going to but are going to talk about a big moment or the characters taking a big step)
Jason is always centering youth voice, in community with, and making work for young people and we are so lucky to get to be the recipients of that work.
Eight (!) years later, we remain so grateful to Jason and for the gift of being able to adapt AAB. You can see the joy in being reunited. Those bonds we built are special.
Go buy Jason’s newest book and if his book tour is coming near you, definitely go!

Broadway Licensing is leading the way among theatrical publishers standing up against book and theatre banning.
We thank them for being the very first publisher on the theatrical side to take this stand. As bans continue to grow and spread across the country, young people need all of us to make it clear we won't accept these bans.
Young people are at the heart of these bans; the bans seek to erase and invalidate their very existence. It is central to our work as TYA makers to ensure the stories of all of our young artists are seen, centered, and celebrated and that artists have the freedom and resources to do so.
We are excited for this first step with Broadway Licensing and to continue partnering in this work together.

We had a phenomenal development week at the Rockefeller Brothers Fund & Pocantico Center for our adaptation of Kip Wilson's WHITE ROSE. It was truly wonderful to cap it off with two shares with amazing 8th graders and finally get this work in front of its attended audience. Huge thanks to everyone at Pocantico, to New Victory Education team for their stellar facilitation, to the New Victory LabWorks team for their steadfast support, and to the Alliance Theatre for their continued support.
This play comes alive in front of young people. If you are looking to program work for middle to high schoolers, we're ready for you!

We honor the wishes of family by sharing this video of him, living and joyous. We know that so many in our communities are aching and angry and we send our love and support. Please take care of yourself and one another as best you can and remember you do not have to watch videos of violence to advocate for change.
