Join us at the KoKo Lot tomorrow (Saturday, 9/19) for In the Weeds, a one-day outdoor group exhibition featuring artists Florencia Escudero, Lauren A. Pirie, Lydia Goldbeck, Sarah Davidson, Shay Salehi, and Wei.
In The Weeds builds on Lauren A. Pirie’s living soil sculpture A Lower Horizon (2025, worm and NYC city compost, mulch, sand, biodegradable textile, thread, various native herbaceous plants), which she installed in 2025 as artist in residence at KoKo Lot. The sculpture continues to decompose and grow, and In The Weeds brings together artists whose work expands on themes in the work: the complexity of human/non-human relationships, and the porousness of local ecology and human intervention. Addressing the hyper-local ecology of the space, the title of the exhibition refers to both the metaphor, meaning to get lost in the details of an environment, and to the setting, an outdoor lot.
