πŸ“’ Exciting Journey as a Queens General Assembly (QGA) Delegate! 🌍✨
In January 2025, I took a leap of faith and applied to become a QGA Delegate, motivated by my disillusionment from the 2024 Election and the need for community and hope. The QGA Assembly unites diverse leaders and activists to engage in critical discussions, break down barriers, and strengthen our community. πŸ’ͺ🀝
March 2025 marked a significant moment as we held the installation ceremony for our new cohort of community stakeholders! Although we had to shift to a virtual format, we were sworn in by Queens Borough President Donovan Richards. It was inspiring to connect with intergenerational leaders from all over Queens! πŸŒ†πŸ’–
Through conversations like β€œWhat Does It Mean To Be An American” and β€œThe History of Racism in America,” the QGA fosters safe spaces for dialogue. Our first in-person meeting took place at the Queens Botanical Gardens, where I co-facilitated a workshop on β€œThe Indigenous People of Queens and Long Island.” πŸŒ±πŸ—£οΈ
We've also engaged in interfaith dialogues emphasizing love and peace, and hosted the impactful Human Rights Dinner focused on the city’s human rights law. Together, we are building a tapestry of understanding, kindness, and respect for one another's cultures.
I am truly humbled to be part of this incredible journey! Let’s keep moving forward together! πŸ’—βœŠ

We are so grateful for all of the community members that made our trip to Lower Manhattan a wonderful experience. The students from planned for a trip to the African Burial Grounds Monument Education Tour. Due to the government shutdown, we arrived and the museum was closed. With the tenacity of our wonderful Program Director, Dr Kessler, students had their maps in hand and began to explore the history and art of lower Manhattan. We visited and took pictures in front of City Hall and then walked down to the Oculus at . We were greeted by the generosity of . Thank you for sharing your augmented art and allowing our youth to honor Hispanic Heritage Month with your coloring pages. We are grateful for the initiative of . We ended our day by visiting the to pay our respects. While our original plans were derailed, community made sure our children still had a wonderful experience. Thank you for supporting our program.
