Sign the Petition 05/11/2023

Once again, we find ourselves in a struggle with our partner, the NYC Department of Education, and we need your support. The DOE is delaying (or not paying at all) 3-K and Pre-K providers throughout the city and millions of dollars in back payments are owed. Until recently, OSLP had been fortunate to receive timely payments but now we find ourselves in the same position as our fellow centers and are owed 2 months worth of funds.

Hundreds of community-based organizations throughout NYC, OSLP included, have joined together and are demanding that the DOE make timely payments for services rendered. One of our efforts is getting as many stakeholders (parents, staff, community members) to sign a petition. Would you support us and sign?

Ideas & Solutions for Reopening Schools 06/11/2020

Do you have concerns about the reopening of schools? Please complete this important survey no later than 5:00 PM, June 15! Your feedback will provide the educational advocacy groups, Class Size Matters and NYC Kids PAC with vital information for their annual conference on Saturday, June 20. Due to covid pandemic, the conference will be virtual and the theme is Sharing Ideas & Solutions for Reopening Schools: The Path Forward.

The conference organizers are seeking ideas from parents, guardians, teachers and concerned New Yorkers about school reopening. The Governor and the Mayor have appointed advisory boards on reopening schools, but with few parents or NYC educators. If schools reopen this fall, it must be done the right way to ensure the health and safety of students and staff and to maximize academic and emotional support.

Ideas & Solutions for Reopening Schools Class Size Matters and NYC Kids PAC are holding a conference on Saturday, June 20 from 11 AM to 1 PM called Sharing Ideas & Solutions for Reopening Schools: The Path Forward. During this conference, we will seek ideas from parents, guardians, teachers and concerned New Yorkers about school reopening...

The events of the past nine days have impacted so many of us in a myriad of ways. We need to support and guide our children towards a better tomorrow.

Why colorblindness is not the answer:

Raising Colorblind Kids Isn't the Point, Raising Empathetic Kids Is Having honest conversations with our kids about racial, gender, and socioeconomic differences will only make them stronger allies.
