Students traveled to Buffalo to participate in leadership workshops, networking events, career exploration opportunities, and agricultural education sessions with students from across New York State.

This trip marks an important milestone for Murrow’s agriculture and Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) program as students represent the school at one of the largest student leadership conferences in the state.

On Thursday, a group of 25 students from our Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) program successfully completed their certification practical exam at the NY Sun Works Youth Conference held at the Jacob Javits Center. This is a culminating, industry-aligned assessment where students demonstrate hands-on proficiency in hydroponic systems, plant health, and controlled environment growing practices.

As part of the event, students also participated in a CEA Networking Fair, where they presented résumés, cover letters and spoke directly with professionals from the agriculture, sustainability, and STEM sectors. It was a strong example of career-connected learning in action, and a reflection of the work students have been doing all year in our greenhouse and research program.

This achievement connects directly to Murrow’s broader STEM and sustainability initiatives, including our hydroponics systems, student-led research, and partnerships with NY Sun Works. It also highlights our focus on preparing students with real-world skills and industry exposure.
