BIG NEWS: Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn is extremely proud to announce that Upper Schooler Phoebe was recently named a first place winner in the 2026 Congressional Art Competition sponsored by the congressional_institute! Her patriotic piece titled “Hero Reflection” was selected by Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis to represent the 11th Congressional District inside the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, D.C.! This extraordinary exhibit showcasing the most talented artists in the nation is displayed prominently and viewed by millions of Capitol visitors each year! Following the announcement, Phoebe was thrilled to meet Congresswoman Malliotakis at her Brooklyn office, where she discussed her passion for art — and Adelphi! — and received a special certificate of recognition for her outstanding accomplishment. Head of School Ms. Iphigenia Romanos was there to congratulate the proud Class of 2027 member and thank Ms. Malliotakis as well. Way to go, Phoebe!

Congratulations to Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn’s own Director of Academy Operations & Advancement Mr. Albert C. Corhan, Sr. for being named the 2026 Ben-Bay Kiwanis Foundation, Inc. Man in the Arena Award recipient! As President Elect of Ben Bay Kiwanis, Mr. Corhan plays an integral role in the planning and ex*****on of Kiwanis events throughout the year, including the Annual Golf Outing, at which he will receive this prestigious award for his tireless efforts to improve the lives of children and families in need. YEAR IN REVIEW: Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn was proud to salute with an inspiring, one-night-only performance of “Adelphi’s American Legends! A Salute to 250 Years!” on the final day of classes. Special thanks to immensely talented Upper School student-artist Phoebe, who designed and painted this incredible set for the patriotic production. Head of School Ms. Iphigenia Romanos is looking forward to welcoming Phoebe back this summer to recreate her lifelike American flag as a mural on one of the Academy’s walls!

Congratulations to Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn Lower Schooler Jose for placing second in the Annual Presidents’ Day Essay Contest sponsored by Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis! This year, students in the 11th Congressional District in Grades 3-5 were asked, “What would you do to improve your community and country as president of the United States?” Jose’s essay focused on providing care and respect for special needs students as well as the elderly. Adelphi Head of School Ms. Iphigenia Romanos was proud to attend a ceremony at the Congresswoman’s office to congratulate Jose, who received a certificate and a Barnes & Noble gift card for his efforts. Congresswoman Malliotakis enjoyed speaking to Jose and the other winners about their ideas. Great job, Jose!
