Really? We are being falsely set up for or NCLB's return by the usual suspects. You would think we stopped having consequences for schools' test results in 2013. It's the iPhone/Chromebook stupid. It's not only the US. Just feeds the voucher narrative.

The pandemic was the "the mudslide” in a decline that began in 2013, one researcher said. Another attributed the decline to technology.

NPR piece on state of test optional including FairTest comments. Fails to even mention the main issue--the impact of testing on the wealth, privilege and racial composition of admissions. Seems like NPR engaged in a stroke of self-censorship. https://ow.ly/Uc4e50YV313
More college applicants are opting to include SAT or ACT scores in their submissions
This application cycle, way more students reported test scores, up 10% compared with last year. That's despite many colleges having "test-optional" admissions policies.

Ed First study: kids in K-8 take as many as 88 different tests for up to 222 hours. They are not connected to curriculum and instruction and the volume doesn't improve state summative scores.
