DGS is one of New York City’s leading performing arts studios for voice, acting, & dance for kids. Kids, craft, and community.

These are the values Park Slope Conservatory has been centered around since opening in 2018. While our professional instructors teach legitimate techniques in our acting, singing, and dance classes, the focus around here is on fun! By combining traditional teaching methods with both a community-oriented and family-centered program, our students learn valuable and transferable skills they’ll carry

The kids killed it at the watermark retirement community last weekend. Kids doing good work is what it’s all about here.

Each semester, our DGS students choose a benefit partner to receive **100% of the proceeds** from our recital. This year, we’re honored to support —an organization working to protect our planet’s most fragile and essential ecosystems. 🌿💚

**Why this matters:**
Your generosity helps rainforest nations access the training, tools, and legal support they need to conserve and restore their forests—protecting endangered species and fighting climate change at its roots.

This Giving Tuesday, and all week long, we invite you to join us.
💛 Together, we *can* help reverse tropical rainforest deforestation by 2030.

🎭 Auditioning for a NYC Performing Arts High School?
Choosing the right monologue is everything — it shows your skill, emotional range, and understanding of the material. Here are 5 essential tips to help you pick the perfect one:

✨ 1. Choose a Monologue That Brings Out Who You Are
A great monologue feels authentic, like it comes from you. Ask yourself: Can I connect with the character’s situation? If the piece resonates with your personality and emotional range, you’re on the right path.

❤️ 2. You Can Connect to the Character’s Needs
Every character is driven by something — a need, a goal, a desire. Instead of focusing only on the situation, connect to the character’s need using substitution. Tap into real needs from your own life to bring your full self to the role.

🔥 3. The Character is Urgently Pursuing Their Objective (High Stakes)
Choose a monologue where something big is on the line. High stakes create emotional urgency and intensity. Love, identity, survival — whatever it is, it should feel like the character’s world is at stake.

👶🏽 4. Pick an Age-Appropriate Monologue
No one wants to see an eighth grader talk about their dead husband. Seriously. Stay within your age range to perform truthfully and connect more naturally with the character.

📚 5. Select a Monologue from a Published Play (Not a Monologue Book or Film)
Plays are written for live performance — and that’s what you’re doing. Film is behavior-driven; theater is speech-driven. Choosing from a published play gives you stronger material for the stage.

🎬 Your monologue = your moment.
Choose wisely, connect deeply, and break a leg!

Come to support or join the kids in an Open mic at . We will be raising money for to support them in their efforts to help the children of LA recover from the destruction of this winter’s wildfires.

All kids ages 7-18 are welcome to perform a song, read a poem, and share a piece of art to support this worthy cause.

Save the Children is working to meet the most urgent needs of kids and families living in some areas hardest hit by the devastating LA wildfires.

Save the Children is an expert at supporting the immediate and long-term recovery of children and their caregivers. Recovering from this disaster will take years.
