Becoming the Students of St. Thomas More āš–ļø

Bishop Loughlin proudly celebrated the inaugural year of the St. Thomas More Pathway to Law with a special induction ceremony honoring our first cohort of scholars. After a year of rigorous study in law, ethics, and public speaking, students marked not a beginning—but a powerful milestone of growth, purpose, and achievement.

From the recitation of the Lawyer’s Prayer to inspiring words from alumna Shania Felix, Esq. ’13, and Board Member Pamela M. Sloan, Esq., the ceremony reminded us that the pursuit of justice is grounded in both intellect and moral courage.

As our scholars donned their St. Thomas More pullovers, they stepped fully into who they are becoming—young men and women committed to faith, integrity, and the work of justice.

With one remarkable year complete, this is only the beginning.

On May 15, we proudly celebrated seven Loughlin seniors at the Arthur Ashe Health Science Academy’s Celebration of Achievement Ceremony šŸŽ“āœØ.

Each graduate completed the rigorous three-year program with distinction, earning special honors šŸ… and preparing for futures in medicine, nursing, public health, and research šŸ©ŗšŸ”¬.

Guided by moderator Mrs. Jason and supported by Ms. Lamarque, these students exemplify dedication and excellence šŸ‘. We also congratulate Loughlin/Arthur Ashe alum Asha Griffith ’20, recipient of the Public Health Solutions Building Pathways Scholarship šŸŽ‰.

The future of healthcare is bright! 🌟

šŸ„ For our Loughlin Lions Lacrosse team, this season offered meaningful experiences that deepened our program’s impact. The team welcomed Hall of Famer and PLL founder Paul Rabil, alongside an ESPN documentary crew, and hosted Scott Price, who shared the rich indigenous history of the game and its legacy at HBCUs.

Following the playoffs, our Lions had the incredible opportunity to visit ā€œThe Rockā€ — the FDNY Fire Training Academy on Randall’s Island — on Friday, May 15, thanks to the generosity of Loughlin alumnus and Board of Governors member Brian Connolly ’73. This unforgettable experience gave our student-athletes a firsthand look at the discipline, teamwork, and service that define New York’s Bravest.

🦁 Today, the Class of 2026 closed one chapter and stepped into the next. Their final day at BLMHS was filled with tradition and meaning—from this morning’s Lions’ Walk, ushering in the 8:35 bell, to the final countdown at 2:23.

In between, our seniors paused to reflect, thanking the teachers who guided them, signing yearbooks filled with memories, and passing the torch to the underclassmen who will carry on the pride and spirit of BLMHS.

We are so proud of all you have accomplished and cannot wait to see where your journeys lead next.
Lions Forever šŸ’œšŸ’›

May 7, 2026 šŸ‘Øā€āš–ļøWe were honored to welcome Judge Joseph F. Bianco to BLMHS for an inspiring and engaging assembly with our St. Thomas More Pathway to Law students. Sponsored by the St. Thomas More Pathway to Law Program for our junior and senior classes, the event was a powerful reminder of the impact that real-world voices can have on young scholars exploring futures in law and public service.

Judge Bianco was deeply impressed by our students—praising their exemplary behavior, strong understanding of legal concepts, and the thoughtfulness of their questions. His generosity, from sharing his time and expertise to offering small tokens of encouragement, made the experience even more memorable.

Beyond the courtroom, Judge Bianco’s reflections on his faith and vocation added a meaningful dimension to the conversation, resonating with many in our community.

His willingness to return for future discussions—both on law and on faith—speaks volumes about the connection he felt with our school.

Our students, in turn, were equally impressed. Nearly 50 students took the time to write letters expressing their gratitude and sharing how inspired they felt by his words—a true testament to the lasting impression of his visit.

We are grateful for this enriching opportunity and look forward to continuing this meaningful partnership.

Bishop Loughlin is proud to celebrate Robert McRae ’03 on an extraordinary professional achievement: as part of the team behind Pablo Torre Finds Out, Rob recently won a Pulitzer Prize for Audio Reporting. This milestone comes on the heels of the show receiving multiple Sports Emmy nominations, including recognition for Outstanding Edited Sports Series and Best Sports Journalism.

Rob’s path to success has been anything but conventional — and that’s exactly what makes his story so inspiring. After beginning his career as a tax attorney, he took a bold leap into the world of social media, accepting a junior role to break into a completely new industry. From there, he transitioned into television production, writing, and podcasting.

Today, Rob serves as a producer on Pablo Torre Finds Out, where he helps oversee studio recordings, field shoots, and episode edits. Reflecting on his journey, Rob shared: ā€œEven if I took the ā€˜longer way’ to where I am, I wouldn’t change at all how I got here.ā€

Rob credits Bishop Loughlin with helping shape not only his academic foundation, but also his confidence and character. ā€œLoughlin instilled in me a social and emotional education on top of the academics,ā€ he said. ā€œI entered my freshman year a shy and uncertain young person and graduated from Loughlin with confidence, a sense of empathy, and a genuine interest in other people and the world.ā€

He also reflected fondly on the educators and mentors who influenced him during his time at Loughlin, including Mr. Foley, Mr. Flack, Ms. Hayles, and the LaSallian Youth program.

We are incredibly proud to see Rob’s talent, creativity, and dedication recognized on such a national stage.

Congratulations, Rob, on this remarkable achievement — your Bishop Loughlin family is cheering you on!
