Earlier this month we welcomed elders and special persons in our students’ lives to Claver Castle, and there were too many beautiful moments to count! Elders gathered in the gym for refreshments before visiting classrooms, engaging with students through many thoughtful activities, warm-up games, wonderful performances, and intergenerational conversations. Students throughout early childhood and our grades classes were thrilled to share parts of their daily rhythm of learning and play with our special guests. Thank you to all of the elders and visitors who participated and travelled to be with us today.

Fourth graders at BWS learn fractions during their math block. This is further explored in handwork through symmetry, pattern, and mirrored repetition. Each student creates a cross-stitch design featuring an eightfold mirrored pattern. Their finished work this year was transformed into a small cotton pouch, thoughtfully lined with durable upcycled canvas — blending mathematics, creativity, and craftsmanship into one meaningful project.

🏀 Our first-ever BWS Hoopathon was a huge success! Middle schoolers spent the night enjoying basketball, games, food, free throws, and nonstop fun — all while raising support for BWS. Thank you to everyone who showed up, played hard, and made the night awesome!

Sweet moments from the 2nd grade play! They performed “Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People’s Ears” by Monica Marshall. Our solarium was full of laughter as an audience of schoolmates, parents, caregivers and faculty watched the chain-of-events play out.

At the Brooklyn Waldorf School, we often teach and learn through art. This allows children to form a deep and meaningful connection with each subject!
