Summer Arts Program: July 11 - August 12
entering grades K-5

✨Fun daily dance, drama, music, tumbling & visual arts activities for young artists!

✨Activities take place indoors in the BAX Building and outdoors and JJ Byrne/Washington Park

✨Register by day*, week, mix and match, or for the full program

✨Tiered tuition & scholarships available

✨8:30am to 3:00pm with extended day option until 5:30pm

BAX’s FREE annual YouthWorks festival invites young artists grades 2nd-9th to develop original performance work in dance, theater, performance, and more with support from professional artist coaches during Mid-Winter Recess, February 22-27, 2022. A YouthWorks 2022 day includes morning rehearsal sessions, a lunch break with time for community building and group games, afternoon production and technical workshops, with early drop-off and add-on extended day options. The program will culminate with a professional technical rehearsal and showcase featuring all the young artists’ work on Sunday, February 27, 2022.

Meet Skye Montatnte! Skye began studying ballet at Petaluma School of Ballet at the age of 8. In later years as she was introduced to other forms of dance; she found her true calling with Hip-Hop and Contemporary styles. Skye’s focus as a teacher and creator is to help her dancers find their own individual voice and establish a safe space to move.

Meet Tamika Charles-Sims! Tamika has instructed and coached gymnastics for the over 20 years in New York City. She has taught gymnastics and sports at the 92nd St Y. Meet Diane Tomasi! Diane is a q***r cis white woman who performs on the ground and in the air, as a dancer and aerialist. She began as a gymnast at the young age of 2, later began to dance, and then was introduced to aerial through an inclusive, abled/disabled body workshop with Blue-Eyed Soul Dance Company in the UK. Diane is interested in the ways in which these movement styles weave in and around each other and is constantly finding ways to fuse them together.

Meet Anna Vomacka who teaches Dance Performance Workshop I/II✨Anna is a dancer, activist, and yoga teacher/practitioner based in Brooklyn, NY. She is driven by her curiosities and cravings for community, connection, and spaces of shared learning / (un)learning. Anna grew up dancing in the BAX studios with Helen Tocci and Rachel Lane as her teachers.
