We are proud of our basketball seniors Torian Douglas (L) and Jamel Outley (R) on their graduation from FDR HS. We want thank these two fine young men and wish them continued success as they start the next chapter of their lives. We will be sad that you both are leaving us but at the same time we are very excited for your future! ❤🏀❤🏀

I first met Tom Konchalski as an 8th grader at Jack Curran's Basketball Camp back in 1977.
Tom was a coach at the camp. My good friend Steve Finamore and I had him in a daily morning station. During that 15 minute station, after each time after Tom would make a point, all of the kids would have to repeat "that's very interesting". Tom was simply teaching young city kids how to listen and be respectful.
Years later in the 1980's when I coached at Saint Francis College, and even later at Bishop Ford HS, I would run into Tom. At Saint Francis College we subscribed to his HSBI Recruiting Service. I would often call him asking questions about potential recruits that were on his report.
In the early 90's, I got a great opportunity to work at The 5 Star Camp out in Pittsburgh at Robert Morris University. I worked with and for Tom at the camp, as well as worked with him years later with Guy DeFonzo at The Monsignor King Basketball Tournament in Brooklyn. Tom was always a genuine caring person that took time and was sincere with the people that he came across.
He was a true gentleman.
