Today is Israel's new year for trees, Tu B'Shevat. The basis for this holiday comes from Leviticus 19:23–25, which says the Israelites could not eat the fruit of a tree until its fifth year. As we look at the land of Israel today, it is clear God has fulfilled prophecy by making the desert bloom (Isaiah 35:1–2). We praise Him for His faithfulness and provision!

The Holocaust happened gradually, with the early signs on the horizon in 1933. As Hi**er climbed the ranks of government power, he rolled out laws restricting where Jewish people could go and what they could do. Concentration camps opened one by one. Like a virus, antisemitism spread across Europe, fueled by slanderous propaganda. People who once called Jewish neighbors their friends were now selling them out to the N***s.

The Holocaust finally ended in 1945, shortly after Hi**er committed su***de and Germany surrendered to the Allies in World War II. Unfortunately, antisemitism never went away—the digital age we live in makes antisemitic content easier to spread, and these lies have led people to attack the Jewish community offline. Synagogue shootings, stabbings, vandalism, and name-calling flooded our headlines over the past few years.

If we have learned anything from the Holocaust, let it be this truth—hatred left unchecked leads to horrific loss. We must take a stand against antisemitism if want to stop the hate. Join a march, sign a petition, report antisemitic content online, call your local synagogue and ask how you can help, and above all, pray for the safety of Jewish people everywhere.

Devorah graduated from the Charles L. Feinberg Center for Messianic Jewish Studies in 2016. Today, Devorah serves full-time with Chosen People Ministries. She uses the knowledge and skills she learned in the program to serve in a Messianic congregation in Brooklyn and also for college campus outreaches. With the unique training she received in our program, Devorah is able to communicate the gospel with God's chosen people more effectively.

"The Lord bless you, and keep you; the Lord make His face shine on you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His countenance on you, and give you peace" (Numbers 6:24–26).

Happy New Year from all of us at the Charles L. Feinberg Center for Messianic Jewish Studies!

Here are three of several Old Testament prophecies about the birth of Messiah:

🔹 "For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; and the government will rest on His shoulders; and His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace" (Isaiah 9:6).
🔹 "Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel" (Isaiah 7:14).
🔹 "But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His goings forth are from long ago, from the days of eternity" (Micah 5:2).

Today we rejoice as we remember Jesus' first arrival on earth and look forward to His return!

What makes Hanukkah unique from other Jewish festivals is its only biblical appearance is in the New Testament! The Tanakh, or Hebrew Scriptures, do not refer to Hanukkah (though it appears in the apocryphal writings).

John 10:22 mentions the Feast of Dedication, and it begins a special passage where Jesus affirmed s His deity to the Israelites: "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will sn**ch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to sn**ch them out of the Father’s hand. I and the Father are one" (John 10:27–30).

For Messianic believers, Hanukkah is twice as wonderful—we remember the Israelites' victory over Greek oppression and we celebrate the Light of the World, Jesus. Happy Hanukkah!

This question is important since many students are working full- or part-time jobs and are studying for their Master of Divinity on the side. Thankfully, our program is flexible—you can fast-track your studies and graduate with your Master of Divinity in three years, or you can go at your own pace and take courses as you are able. Either way, we are here to equip you for your ministry work among God's chosen people. ☺️ Learn more about us here: https://bit.ly/3TFfubG
