WHAT A BEAUTIFUL DAY FOR A WALK-A-THON!

We’re so proud to report that Saint Mark Catholic Academy raised $39,041 this year!

Thank you to Father Bob, our teachers, and our entire school community for their generosity and support. This certainly was a group effort!

The day started with a prayer and blessing from Father Bob. Then our students were on their way, walking to St. Margaret Mary Church in Manhattan Beach and back, while our 3K and PreK students walked around the schoolyard.

Thank you to the officers from the NYPD 61st Precinct for keeping us safe for our two-mile walk! We appreciate it!

We’re also grateful for the many parents and families who joined us on our walk. Thank you for being with us!

When we got back, students were treated to water and an ice cream snack.

The day ended with an outdoor assembly to recognize our top fundraisers and reveal the final amount!

Thanks to everyone’s effort, hard-work, and generosity, will be able to enhance our classroom libraries and furnish our classrooms with some new desks too!

"Seats & Stories" Walk-a-Thon: A Step Toward Stronger Classrooms

This year, our walk-a-thon is centered on updating our classroom libraries. We want every student to have access to books that spark curiosity, strengthen reading skills, and foster a lifelong love of learning. By investing in new and refreshed library collections now, we’re making an immediate impact for the upcoming school year.

At the same time, we are beginning a long-term effort to improve student desks across our school. While classroom libraries are the primary focus this year, desks will remain an important part of our walk-a-thon efforts moving forward, with a new primary focus highlighted each year.

Through this ongoing approach, we will replace desks gradually, based on classroom needs, ensuring steady progress until every student has an updated, comfortable place to learn.

Each step taken in this year’s walk-a-thon helps put better books into students’ hands today—and builds toward better learning spaces for tomorrow.

Today we celebrate Principals’ Appreciation Day!

We’re grateful for the leadership and care shown by our principals—past and present—who have helped shape and support the SMCA community through the years.

Pictured are:

Mr. Wilson (2019–present)
Mrs. Donnelly (2007–2019)

Thank you for your commitment, guidance, and the difference you make every day.

We remember especially Mrs. Donnelly—who through her leadership, dedication, and love—left a lasting impact on the Saint Mark Catholic Academy community that is still felt today. We honor her memory following her passing in July 2025.
