With everything going on right now, I thought it was a good opportunity to recommend getting your children books on diversity. 🥰You can get them online, from the library, or by supporting small businesses. My friend owns the Toy Chest in Bloomington, and has been doing amazing things to keep her business open! I’m sharing her post below because I love it so much, and also because of the importance of what Hilary Key is doing. No matter where you get your books, start building your kids’ library today! My kids have hundreds, maybe thousands of books. I once counted the books in Jasper’s room alone and it was over 200. Yesterday I looked at them differently. Yesterday I counted the number of children’s books in my home that show people of color as the main characters.

That’s it, 3. The majority had minor representation of a variety of skin tones, but people of color only had the lead in 3. I can do better then that. I have to do better than that.
Lucky for me, I sell books and I have to write three book orders this week, so you can guess what I’m loading up on for my own house.
