The Katmint Learning Initiative is grassroots, arts-based childcare in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. We deliver a structured, stimulating environment where children can actively participate and receive the support needed by our staff. We LOVE sensory play at Katmint 🦀✨ Feeling the textures, identifying each creature, and having so much fun — a little sensory adventure inspired by our Caribbean Carnival summer theme.

Sensory activities help kids build fine motor skills, spark curiosity, and learn to process the world through touch, texture, and exploration. It’s simple, but it’s doing a lot 🌱

With deep sadness, we remember and honor our dear friend Eurila Cave, who passed away today.

Eurila was more than a close personal friend—she was family. She documented so many steps of our journey in early childhood, capturing our children, families, community, and growth through her extraordinary creative lens. So much of what you have seen and experienced through our visual storytelling was made possible because of Eurila’s magical ability to capture life so beautifully and vividly.

She represented the very best of what we hope to see in one another. She shared her joy, her love of family, her love for Brooklyn, her passion for wellness, and her incredible creativity with all of us. Through her lens, ordinary moments became memories we will now treasure forever.

Today, we honor Eurila and thank her for the many contributions she made to our organization and, even more importantly, for the friendship, love, laughter, and light she brought into our lives.

Eurila was family, and we loved her so.

We will cherish every photograph, every memory, every laugh, and every moment we were blessed to share with her in this lifetime.

For now, dear friend, rest well. 🕊️

Your light, your love, and the beautiful moments you captured will remain with us always.

Rest peacefully, Eurila. We love you. 🤍

This summer at Katmint was a celebration of Caribbean culture 🌴🎉

Our kids spent the season exploring learning about tropical plants, fruits, and vegetables, visiting the community garden, and discovering where their food comes from. Our friends had so much fun making their own carnival headbands and costumes, and dancing to soca music ☀️🌴

Play, culture, and learning all wrapped into one unforgettable summer.

Enrollment is open ✨ Link in bio to join the fun 🌱

It’s cloudy today but the sun was shining on Friday ☀️Our little ones got to run through the sprinklers, cool off, and just be kids. Splashing, giggling, chasing the water 💦

Want to join the fun? Katmint welcomes friends ages 2 and up!

Another great day at Katmint 🌞 Playing with each other, learning as we grow.

There’s something magical about playing outside. Dirt becomes cake batter, sticks become wands, and our imagination soars. This is what childhood should look like.

Wanna learn and play with us? Visit the link in our bio for our upcoming school year.

We accept ACS vouchers too, feel free to ask us about it.

This post The science is clear: 90% of brain development happens before age 5. 🧠📚

The years before kindergarten aren’t just playtime, they’re the most critical window for language acquisition, emotional regulation, and cognitive growth. Children who engage in quality early education are more likely to read at grade level, graduate high school, and thrive long-term. Every book, every question, every conversation on that rug is building neural pathways that last a lifetime.

This is why we show up. This is why it matters.

Water Play some highlights from our outdoor water play! 💦 We are loving this warm weather! Our little ones splashed, blew bubbles, watered plants, and felt the water and mulch right between their toes.

Pure joy, all around. ☀️

Happy Monday to all! Last Friday we celebrated our Mother’s & all our parents who show up every single day for our little ones. A coffee & donut treat is the least we can do to honor every caregiver who makes it happen. You are seen. 🍩☕

We hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day Weekend!
