Giordano Workshops LLC

Giordano Workshops LLC Workshops that teach engineering, robotics, programming, renewable energy and other STEM related fields through hands on activities.

Giordano Workshops was started by Carl Giordano in 2015, after recognizing that middle school and high school students have very little opportunity to participate in hands on projects related to technology and engineering. In 2010, Carl left the financial industry to open an after school math learning center in Brooklyn, NY. This endeavor has been the single most rewarding experience of his life.

After five years of running this small business, he realized that math alone is not enough to inspire students to pursue careers in fields related to STEM (science, technology, engineering and math). He thought greatly about his own education and what he would have done differently had he been exposed to these particular fields. Carl interviewed engineering students from local universities and discovered that many of the projects these students complete during their freshman year of college are easily accessible and offer a wealth of knowledge and inspiration. They provoke thought about issues related to technological innovation, energy, aerospace design and robotics. In the summer of 2015, with the help of some very caring and knowledgeable graduate students, we developed our first engineering workshop for middle school students. It was so successful that we continued offering this eight hour course into the school year. Each time we ran the workshop, we learned from the experience and improved on it. We have received very valuable feedback from parents and students and now offer something truly unique. How often does a middle school or high school student have the opportunity to work hand in hand with graduate students? By keeping the groups very small (three to five students per instructor), we are maximizing the one-on-one interaction and hands-on, project based inspiration. Giordano Workshops is currently offering engineering workshops for students in New York City and New Jersey. Remember to check back often or join our mailing list to be kept informed of new STEM workshops being added to the schedule.

Stacked inside, in what look like drawers, are about 200 lithium-ion cells that make up a battery large enough to store a substantial portion of the electricity the solar farm puts out.

Solar farms are increasingly common, but they depend on the sun. A new technology harvests that energy so it can be sold when prices are high.

Giordano Workshops will be holding after school engineering classes for kids (grades 3-8) at The Brooklyn Commons (388 Atlantic Avenue, 2nd Floor) beginning Monday, September 19th.

The following topics will be introduced and students will have the opportunity to decide how they spend their time:
- Robotics
- Drones
- Electricity
- Battery Technology
- Renewable Energy
- 3D Design and Printing
…and much more!

Fall 2016 Pricing & Schedule
- $55 per class (come as often as you like*)

Cool event if you're in the area!

This event is produced in tight collaboration with the very awesome folks in the City of New York, RotorSports and the Drone Pilots Federation.

For three days, we'll celebrate the second annual US National Drone Racing Championships together and go head to head through high speed drone racing. That's the stuff legends and good friends are made from.

This wind-powered device was designed to roll across mine fields and ‘stomp’ landmines with its bamboo ‘feet.’

There are more than 100 million landmines worldwide, every day more than 10 innocent civilians are being killed or maimed by these explosives. More than 60 countries are still affected and more than a billion people are living at risk.

The way we get electricity is about to change dramatically, as the era of ever-expanding demand for fossil fuels comes to an end—in less than a decade.

Coal and gas will begin their terminal decline in less than a decade, according to a new BNEF analysis.

The next 3D Design and Print Workshop for kids is scheduled for Sunday, June 12 from 12pm-3pm.

Students will become familiar with Autodesk 123D design software and work closely with engineering instructors to create their own 3D object. We will then print each object for students to pick up later in the week and keep as a memento of their hard work.

3D printing is a process for making a physical object from a three-dimensional digital model, typically by laying down many successive thin layers of a material. Futurologists believe that 3D printing is the beginning of a third industrial revolution. Imagine the possibility of sending a blueprint of any product to any place in the world to be replicated by a 3D printer!

This is a unique opportunity to enroll your child in a project-based educational program focused on one of today’s most exciting innovations in technology and engineering.

As of 2015, about 22% of the country's electricity is coming from wind power alone, but Portugal also uses hydroelectric, wave, geothermal, and solar power as well as biofuels (which are the renewable cousins to fossil fuels). http://u.pw/25bIddo

For four days, Portugal's electricity needs were met entirely with renewable energy.
