We were proud to watch Professor Melissa Murray, our 2025 Hess Scholar, receive an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters at today’s Commencement- and remind us that we are the defenders of our democracy. Over the last three years, Murray has joined us time and time again for events - allowing us to learn from and with her and to be in community with her generous spirit. Congratulations!!

We thank the Office of the Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences for inviting us to collaborate on this year's HSS Student Expo, from the two-day Expo in late April to the Awards Ceremony earlier this month. We can think of no better way to end the semester than by promoting the humanities on campus by centering the work of HSS students. We are extremely proud of the students who particiaped and impressed and inspired by their work. The humanities at Brooklyn College are strong and Expo 2026 showcased that. We are already looking forward to Expo 2027!

As the semester comes to a close, we want to thank the over 2,500 students, faculty, staff, and community members who attended our events this academic year. You helped us meet our goal of building community by bringing people together to learn together. We are already working on our 2026-27 programming. Enjoy the summer break and stay tuned for more details. Once again, thanks!
