Hi Y Roads! This is Parvoneh :) My current workplace is hiring a Mentor to facilitate groups with youth Mon and Wed 5pm-8pm (6 hours total each week). The location is in the NYCHA Tompkins houses. The Literacy Assistance Center has a Literacy & Justice Initiative that works to connect adult learners like you with social justice movements. Right now we are collecting stories about how HSE programs (also called programs) have impacted your life. The stories will be shared with city council people, state education office staff, and other decision makers who decide how much money to give to these programs.

Hello Y Roads! I miss you all and hope you and yours are doing ok in this difficult time.

Some good news: students in P2G programs and D79 Adult Education programs have a new TASC waiver option.

The proposed waiver is for District 79 students who meet the following criteria:

* Only need 1 to 2 more TASC or Regents subjects, having passed all others
* Students must be actively engaged in remote learning
* Student's progress through attendance, outreach efforts and completion of work is being documented regularly
* District 79 HSE curriculum is being administered
* Student work is being collected and audited by D79 teachers

If students meet this criteria, the Principal can sign a waiver granting a pass for the relevant TASC subjects.

Students who are only missing 1 or 2 TASC subtests, I encourage you to get in touch with me (Parvoneh) or Ms. Santiago ASAP to discuss enrollment options.

City is Looking for Artists to Beautify Broadway Junction The Broadway Junction sidewalk at the intersection of Fulton Street and Van Sinderen Avenue is in need of beautification, according to the NYC Department of Transportation.

Happy new year! We’re so excited to start 2019 with good news. Congratulations to Wendy for passing the TASC exam to earn her high school equivalency diploma!! Wendy has been a super student at Y Roads this school year and we are thrilled celebrate her hard work. We look forward to even more graduates before June!
