Our mission is to develop and maintain high quality, professional, career-oriented undergraduate degree programs; proudly offering strong academic programs through its four Schools. We provide a solid foundation of general education to prepare our students to achieve personal and academic goals. We believe that education has the power to positively transform the lives of individuals and is the right of all individuals in the pursuit of self-actualization. An evening of leadership, legacy, and excellence in Washington, D.C. ✨

Medgar Evers College President Dr. Patricia Ramsey joined Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke, Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus and representative of New York’s 9th Congressional District in Brooklyn, at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s 55th Annual Legislative Conference Phoenix Awards Dinner.

The Phoenix Awards Dinner is the culminating signature event of the Annual Legislative Conference, bringing together leaders from government, education, business, philanthropy, advocacy, and culture. This year’s celebration also marked the 50th presentation of the Phoenix Awards. Acclaimed actress Viola Davis was among the evening’s distinguished honorees, receiving the CBC Chair’s Award.

President Ramsey also connected with Brooklyn congressional leaders during an evening celebrating public service, achievement, and the continued advancement of Black communities.

From Brooklyn to Washington, D.C. — our students are showing up, learning, engaging, and preparing to lead! 🖤💛

Medgar Evers College/CUNY students joined President Dr. Patricia Ramsey in Washington, D.C., for the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s 55th Annual Legislative Conference (ALC55), held under the theme “Rooted, Ready & Rising.” The conference brings together students, policymakers, advocates, professionals, and leaders for public-policy dialogue and leadership development.

Our students participated in two important issue forums/brain trusts:

🎓 “What’s the Price of Belonging? The Role of PBIs and Mental Health” — hosted by Congresswoman Robin Kelly.

👩🏾‍💼 The Women in Government Lecture Series — founded by Dr. Zulema Blair of Medgar Evers College, creating opportunities for students to engage with women in public service and learn from their leadership journeys.

Experiences like these extend education beyond the classroom, giving our students opportunities to engage in conversations about public policy, leadership, mental health, and the issues affecting the communities they serve.

Our students aren’t just preparing for the future, they’re getting a front-row seat to the conversations shaping it.

Today, Medgar Evers College joins our nation in solemn remembrance of the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

We honor the victims, the courageous first responders, the families whose lives were forever changed, and all those who demonstrated extraordinary bravery, compassion, and service in the days, months, and years that followed.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to remember their lives, honor their legacy, and reflect on the strength and resilience that carried our city and our nation through one of our darkest days.

Celebrating Caribbean Culture, Community & Cougar Pride! 🇹🇹🇯🇲🇧🇧🇬🇩🇭🇹💛🖤

Medgar Evers College President Dr. Patricia Ramsey joined community, civic, and business leaders at the 59th Annual West Indian American Day Carnival Association VIP Breakfast in Brooklyn, celebrating the rich culture, history, and contributions of the Caribbean American community.

Throughout the morning, President Ramsey connected with distinguished leaders and friends of the College, including Congressman Hakeem Jeffries, former New York City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams, Resorts World New York City President Kevin Williams, Michelle Stoddart, and Renee Hastick, among others.

The celebration continued along Eastern Parkway, where President Ramsey joined the Dean of Student Success, Dr. Latoya Blount and Medgar Evers College stdents aboard the Medgar Evers College Labor Day Parade float, bringing Cougar Pride to one of New York City’s most vibrant cultural traditions.

Located in the heart of Central Brooklyn, Medgar Evers College is proud of its deep connection to the Caribbean community and the many students, alumni, faculty, staff, and families whose cultures and traditions enrich our campus.

Dr. Patricia Ramsey, President of Medgar Evers College/CUNY, was honored to deliver the keynote address at the Women’s League of Science and Medicine, Inc.’s 66th Scholarship Celebration.

This year’s inspiring theme, “Let us be a strong bridge from those who come before us to those that will follow,” reminds us that investing in today’s students builds tomorrow’s leaders.

Congratulations to the 14 outstanding students who received college scholarships! Your hard work and dedication have opened the door to incredible possibilities.

A special thank you and congratulations to Amelia Rawlings-Henry, President of the Women’s League of Science and Medicine, Inc., along with the organization’s officers and members, for your unwavering commitment to expanding access to higher education and empowering the next generation of scholars.
