Prepping for my 4th Grade Virtual Math Class today! 🍎✨

Here’s how I transformed today’s lesson deck to make it more engaging for my students:

🎨 Added Stickers for Visual Umph: Jazzed up the lesson deck with fun stickers to make the slides more colorful and visually engaging.

🎣 Wrote a Better Lesson Hook: Replaced their confusing, formulaic hook with a quick, high-interest visual concept that actually models equivalent fractions without creating mathematical misconceptions.

🎯 Rewrote the Lesson Objective: Swapped out their overly complex, heavy wording with clear, accessible language so my 4th graders in tutoring know exactly what we’re learning without feeling overwhelmed. Wrote a more kid-friendly learning objective.

📊 Integrated Fraction Bar Visual Models: Added stacked fraction bars so my students can physically see equal shaded areas and build real conceptual understanding about equivalent fractions.

💻 Mastered New Slide Tech: Created a custom presentation deck, exported it as a .pptx file, and easily imported/merged the new slides directly into my main teaching platform deck. *This was a first for me & I did it! 🥳💯

Through his nonprofit, the Chicago teen has helped distribute thousands of “Blessing Bags” filled with essentials to unhoused people, seniors, and communities around the world.

Monday, June 15th

This week, I've officially transitioned into working mostly from home. Today, I had the opportunity to teach around the world! 🌎 🎧 💻 😀

I taught students in China, South Korea, Brazil, Turkey, Japan, and Saudi Arabia.

I met and worked with new students who enjoyed our classes and immediately booked future sessions with me—one student even reserved two classes this week! 😲😀 My schedule is filling up nicely.

Early this evening, I was thrilled to receive an email letting me know that I was approved for one of the select Summer classes with the company I worked with in March and throughout the remainder of the school year.

Later this month, I will be teaching 2nd Grade Math. 🙂 🧮 ➕ ➖ 🟰

If you remember, I not so long ago shared that I was making myself available for tutoring and offering my teaching services while I have additional availability.
