Working 9 to 5… getting Senesh ready to welcome our community back!

From setting up classrooms to putting the finishing touches on our halls, it takes a whole community to make Senesh feel like home. We can’t wait to welcome our students and families back for another year of learning, laughter, and joy.

Here’s a little behind-the-scenes look at the people who make it all happen!

Today we mourn the passing of Gloria Steinem, who spent her life proving that one person’s voice can help change what’s possible for everyone who comes after—a lesson we strive to instill every student at Senesh. We were so fortunate to welcome Gloria to our school and hear her wisdom in 2017 as part of our Conversations@Senesh series. As a school community, we honor her as a true role model: someone who turned her convictions into action, touched countless lives, and created positive change.

From pitching in to help build and restore community housing initiatives to hiking through forests and waterfalls to meaningful connections with the local Portland Jewish community, our 8th graders experienced Tivnu: Building Justice's mission of hands-on service, social justice, and deep connection—to both people and the planet. Our students stepped up to engage with issues of justice and dignity while reflecting on our shared responsibility to care for one another and the earth. And yes—after full days of meaningful work, they still had energy to have a ton of fun!

With confidence, creativity, and enthusiasm, our 3rd graders brought the history of New York City to life, while our 4th graders took us on a musical journey through the histories of America and Israel. Both classes delivered unforgettable learning celebrations filled with storytelling, song, and a deep understanding of the past.

We are so proud of our eighth graders and twelfth grade alumni on their high school, college, and gap year acceptances! 🎉

Their hard work, curiosity, and perseverance have all led to this exciting milestone, and we can’t wait to see all that they accomplish in their next chapters.

Remember students, wherever you go, you carry the Senesh spirit with you—congratulations & mazal tov! 💙

Tomorrow night—don’t miss this important conversation.

Inspired by “Don’t Feed the Lion,” join Bianna Golodryga in conversation with Abby Sher. Together, we’ll explore how to help our children navigate antisemitism, bullying, and tough moments with empathy, confidence, and courage.

✨ Bring your kids—admission for children is FREE
Designed for families with kids ages 8–12, but meaningful for all.

Come to listen, reflect, and leave with real tools for the conversations that continue at home.
