Join us October Friday 23–Sunday 25, 2026, at Holley Family Village for a weekend dedicated to strengthening language, literacy, and family connections through American Sign Language.

Family Literacy Weekend is designed for parents and legal guardians of Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing children ages 2–12. Hearing siblings of any age are welcome to attend if they have a Deaf, DeafBlind, or Hard of Hearing sibling.

Throughout the weekend, families will:
🤟 Learn alongside our Deaf Community Health & Literacy Program (CHLP) mentors
📚 Build literacy skills through ASL stories and language-rich activities
💙 Participate in engaging workshops and family learning experiences
🤝 Connect with other families raising Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing children

Families are welcome from any state, and registration includes lodging, meals, workshops, activities, and program materials.

ASL Fun Day!

Our mentor in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is hosting an ASL Fun Day on Saturday, October 3, at Larry’s Corn Maze in Rock, MI!

Come connect, practice, and celebrate American Sign Language (ASL) with the community. Deaf, Hard of Hearing, CODA, families, and new signers are welcome!

Our Community Health and Literacy Program mentors recently gathered at Holley Family Village last weekend for a 3-Day Ski-Hi Deaf Mentor Curriculum Training, building new skills and strengthening the tools they use during family mentor sessions. Through continued training and professional development, our mentors are better equipped to support Deaf and Hard of Hearing children and their families with language development, communication, and meaningful connection in the home. We are proud to invest in our mentors so they can continue providing thoughtful, high-quality support to families across Michigan.

We also want to give a special thank-you to our Holley Family Village kitchen staff for providing our meals and taking care of everything during the training. We especially appreciate the housekeeping staff for keeping our rooms clean and comfortable throughout our stay!

A big thank-you to the Schults family for coming to support our mentors by role-playing during the training. We truly appreciate your support!
